Zoom Zoom !!

This year I have become the proud grandmother of 2 very sweet boys! So when I saw these cute "boy"papers I knew I would be needing them sooner or later and snapped them up!
And they came in very handy when I saw this week's "retro" sketch- I knew straight away how I was going to use them.

Freshly Elegant

I made a card last night for the current challenge at "The Card Concept" #74

Here is the pretty inspiration pic.....

And here is my card.

The layout I have used is a case of some lovely ones I saw on my friend Sue Madex's blog using panels of DSP. Thanks Sue!
I was inspired by the black stripe, pink and gold colours as well as the flowers on the shelf
I would envision that this card would be suitable as a special occasion card for a girl/lady- Maybe 21st or 30th. I would describe it as being in a "Clean and Layered" style

Can you believe it ??

Can you believe it?? In (approx) 2 weeks time my baby girl is going to be having a baby of her own!! Her baby is due on 12th May so possibly she may have had him by Mother's Day which is on the 14th May in Australia this year. Anyway, whatever day he comes I still wanted to make her a Mother's Day card so I made another basket of flowers card but this time I used the pretty colours of the Just Add Ink   #357
challenge for this week

Basket for mum

What a challenging sketch!  Some unusual variations possible.... but as I am in Mother's Day card making mode for our stall on Sunday I decided to go with the flowers and leaves version, The sketch is from this week's Case this Sketch #   217

Fluttering

Here is another card for our "Mother's Day Card Stall" on Sunday. I made it using a sketch from Freshly Made Sketches but sadly did not get it photographed and posted in time for the challenge cut off. But I was also inspired by the current challenge at The Card Concept in the making of this card....the white flowers, pastel flowers and butterfly were inspired by their pretty pic.
I would say that my card was in the  "clean and layered" style

Double Sympathy

Two of my friends lost their mums this week. I made them each a card using Washi Tape and the Flower Shop stamp set. It is for WT630 ( Ways to Use it - Tape ) on Splitcoast Stampers. The Inspiration pic on this week's Just Add Ink challenge #354 gave me the idea for the flowers and colours.

Happy Mother's Day

Mother's Day is celebrated in Australia soon. My friend and I are busy making cards to sell at a special card stall.
I loved this week's sketch from Case this Sketch and it inspired me to make this card.

Flowerpot House

My sister has moved into a new house. Inspired by a challenge I saw on Splitcoast I decided to make a "shape" card for her and her hubby- the same as the famous "Flowerpot card"- but a house shape instead. The roof lifts off to reveal a msg instead of the flowers) I loved the colours for the Just add ink "  #347 challenge so much and so used that as the colour scheme for my house.

A well kept secret !

No secret that I am a fan of Washi Tape for making easy, cheap, fun, postable cards!.....
And to people that know me it is also no secret that I love Ikea!
But what about if you put the two together??
Did you  know that they also sell lovely Washi tape at Ikea? Well they do !.... and that is what I used to make this card for this week's sketch at Freshly made Sketches # 275. I also added some sparkle with silver stars punched from glitter paper and silver twine and  upped the "funk factor" by also adding  some stars punched from the washi tape itself. I chose to make it a 21st card because that is the numbers I had left in my stash but it could easily be adapted to make a great masculine card for any age

Valentine

My daughter-in-law kindly gave me this paper for Christmas....but I didn't know what I was going to do with it- It was different from any paper I had used before.
But then my friend asked for some "Valentine's Day" cards to sell with the candles and soaps at her market stall- and suddenly the paper made perfect sense!
Add to the mix a great sketch from "Case this Sketch"  #   208
and I am happy with the result. I have not followed the sketch exactly- I felt it did not need another sentiment - the paper says it all! I hope they are a selling success at the markets...though with a temp of 38 degrees expected today ...maybe not too many people will be there!

I am also entering it in the "Love and Romance" challenge #66 at The Card Concept as  an example of a" Clean and Simple" style of card inspired by the hearts in the inspiration pic.

Fresh and Bold

Today's card is inspired by The Card Concept #65 ..."Fresh and Bold". The squirly lines on the cushion reminded me of this flower stamp and I used bright bold Washi Tapes as my background to represent the strong colours and patterns on the other cushions and the circles on the furniture. The swirly gold twine accent also adds brightness and continues the squirly (is that a word??? lol) theme.
I would describe my card as being in a "Clean and Graphic" style- or maybe "Clean and Layered (??). (It is brighter in real life...sorry a bit gloomy for photos today)

# 1 !!

There's a new challenge on the block! This one run by Aussie and NZ Stampin Up demos. It is a colour inspiration- "COLOUR INKSPIRATION" but is unique in that it includes a kind facebook community who encourage all the participants. #1 challenge is an array of beautiful summer colours-choose all 6 or at least 3 for your creation!
I was inspired by Emma to make a burlap pot for my summer pastel flowers!

Little Sheep

On Splitcoast Stampers they have a challenge called "Featured Stamper". Every week they choose someone's gallery as the Featured Stamper and everyone has to go to that person's gallery and CASE one of their cards. This week it  was Pam and ,seeing as this year is the year of all things baby in my life, I could not resist CASEing THIS card of hers. I added him to this week's sketch from Freshly made sketches  #269 and added the word "Baby" with my new baby block stamps that I got for Christmas.
