New July record: The number of those on Disability exceeds the population of 39 states

The number of workers taking federal disability insurance payments hit yet another record in July, increasing to 8,753,935 during the month from the previous record of 8,733,461 set in June, according to newly released data from the Social Security Administration.

The 8,753,935 workers who took federal disability insurance payments in July exceeded the population of 39 of the 50 states. Only 11 states—California, Texas, New York, Florida, Illinois, Pennsylvania, Ohio, Michigan, Georgia, North Carolina and New Jersey—had more people in them than the number of workers on the federal disability insurance rolls in July.
The full story is HERE.

Think it's something in the water?

You know with the increase of those on disability, I see a need for a new reality show...Perhaps something called, 'Disabled or Not'. I think I've found the shows first contestant HERE.

Come to think of it, this guy is probably laughing at us all. There's probably a movie or book deal in his future.

Brad Pitt's mom makes a strong case for Mitt Romney

I know..I know...who cares?

I thought considering Hollywood is loaded with left wing Obama supporters, that even hearing from a celebrities mother who is not supporting the status quo would be refreshing:
“I have given much thought to Richard Stoecker’s letter (“Vote for Mormon against beliefs,” June 15). I am also a Christian and differ with the Mormon religion.

But I think any Christian should spend much time in prayer before refusing to vote for a family man with high morals, business experience, who is against abortion, and shares Christian conviction concerning homosexuality just because he is a Mormon.

Andrew Breitbart Dead at 43

Here is the announcement from his website:
With a terrible feeling of pain and loss we announce the passing of Andrew Breitbart.

Here is the announcement from his Website: (http://www.breitbart.tv/in-memoriam-andrew-breitbart-1969-2012/)

Andrew passed away unexpectedly from natural causes shortly after midnight this morning in Los Angeles.

We have lost a husband, a father, a son, a brother, a dear friend, a patriot and a happy warrior.

Andrew lived boldly, so that we more timid souls would dare to live freely and fully, and fight for the fragile liberty he showed us how to love.

Andrew recently wrote a new conclusion to his book, Righteous Indignation:

I love my job. I love fighting for what I believe in. I love having fun while doing it. I love reporting stories that the Complex refuses to report. I love fighting back, I love finding allies, and—famously—I enjoy making enemies.

Three years ago, I was mostly a behind-the-scenes guy who linked to stuff on a very popular website. I always wondered what it would be like to enter the public realm to fight for what I believe in. I’ve lost friends, perhaps dozens. But I’ve gained hundreds, thousands—who knows?—of allies. At the end of the day, I can look at myself in the mirror, and I sleep very well at night.

Andrew is at rest, yet the happy warrior lives on, in each of us.
A related story HERE.

Our thoughts and prayers go out to his wife and children.

The "Lion's Den"

Welcome to the Lion's Den, just some brief notes or facts on the state of the Republic. Here's a look at "legislative efficiency" or lack thereof.  (Source)
""Back in December, Nick Schulz helped put the size of the 2,074-page healthcare bill into some historical context by comparing its length to some previous bills that rank among the most consequential in U.S. history, like the 82-page Social Security Act of 1935 and the 74-page Civil Rights Act of 1964.  (emphasis supplied)

Now that Congress has passed the “Dodd-Frank Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act,” it might be a good time to compare the 2,319-page financial reform bill (245 pages longer than the healthcare bill) to the previous bills listed below (and see graph) that are considered among the most consequential legislative acts for banking and finance.""   (emphasis supplied)

This begs the question, if a 37-page bill (The Glass-Steagall Act) took care of the problem in 1933, why can't the same 37-page bill be re-instated? What are the Marxist-Socialists (MS) that passed & signed the Dodd-Frank Act be up to? Perhaps it's purposeful obfuscation via complexity. A very MS thing to do. As Speaker Pelosi said, you'll have to pass the Bill to find out what's in it.

Now, let's have a look at AN ACT PROVIDING ACCESS TO AFFORDABLE, QUALITY, ACCOUNTABLE HEALTH CARE (Massachusetts) that consists of four Statutory Chapters. Buckle up, here we go:  Chapter 58 - 2006 ; Chapter 324 - 2006 ; Chapter 450 - 2006 & Chapter 205 - 2007  .  I wouldn't even hazard a guess at the page length of the entire 4 chapters. Let's just call it long enough. Even the title is too long!

Stayed tuned for it's a long journey into legislative "sausage making."

Romney Resorts to Class Warfare In Florida

Is Romney trying to win over the 'Occupy Wall Street' crowd? Saul Alinsky would be proud. If I recall, Jon Huntsman was mocked for saying something similar in one of the debates.
"I want to do that not because I'm worried about the one percent. The 1 percent's doing fine. I want to help the 99 percent.

Should we blame "The Godfather" movie for N. Korea's Kim Jung Un?

According to the author of "North Korean Memoirs" written in 2004, Kim Jung Il loved the movie "the Godfather" and was somewhat convinced that the story was based on or at least resembled his own life. I wonder if some of the choices he made for his sons, were somehow influenced by the characters in the movie. Right down to picking his third son as his successor?

Romney: I'll Be Better Than Ted For Gay Rights

This is a prime example as to why Romney struggles with such a large swath of the GOP electorate.

I have a question for the MittHeads...do you believe this reflected his sincere views at the time? For the record, I do not.

....In an interview with Bay Windows Aug. 18th, Romney said one reason he's a better candidate for the Senate than opponent Sen, Edward Kennedy is because his voice would carry more weight on lesbian and gay issues than does Kennedy's....

Care Packages for our Troops

I had always assumed that our troops in harms way had the basic necessities and other supplies needed to keep them safe and to do their missions effectively supplied to them by the government. Boy was I wrong:

Here is the link to the Troops Direct site. I checked it out and read the information on the site including the FAQ.

I know we're approaching the holiday season and for many, money is tight. But if you're looking for a good cause to make a charitable contribution, check out Troops Direct.

My check is on the way.
