'The Block Glasshouse': Chris and Jenna - VIDEOS

I don't really watch reno shows. Actually… I don't watch them at all.

I don't renovate. The two homes my husband and I have lived in needed no renovation at all. This is not a coincidence.

But. The couple that will make me change my mind about renovation reality shows is this couple: Chris and Jenna.

Just based on what they look like, yes. And, based on this:

And here is another little get to know you clip of the couple, set to compete on 'The Block Glasshouse', on Channel 9.

No offence to the other couples in this series, and no offence to all the genetically blessed, obv also chosen for the very good looks, perfect for TV and later endorsement deals couples, but these two… perfection.

They come from Campbelltown. They met in a church group. They're interracial. She's part Maltese, Aussie and Aboriginal. His heritage is Chinese and Indonesian. Love this melting pot of realness.

And they laugh... a lot.

I look forward to seeing the antics they get up to… my bet is that this duo will be the most real, most refreshing couple we've seen on Australian reality TV - reno show or otherwise - in a very long time. Maybe, ever.

Here is the whole new batch of couples for 'The Block Glasshouse':

'The Block Glasshouse' starts on Sunday July 27 at 6.30pm on Channel Nine, then on at 7.30pm Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday.

'Giuliana and Bill': Season 6: PHOTOS + interview

The Australian TV Premiere of 'Giuliana and Bill' season 6 will be screened express from the US from Monday July 22  at 8.30pm, and each Monday thereafter.

Here is a just-in promo clip from season six:

And the promo shot from season six:

This series has been a surprise hit to Bill himself, after his reluctance to even be involved in a reality show documenting his life with his wife Giuliana, as Bill explained in an interview with Josie's Juice when the series was only quite new.

"I think our show is different and it's different in a number of ways. When we were first approached to do the show I was pretty reluctant. I said, no that's not something I had thought about doing in my lifetime. And I thought about it and I said, if we're going to do it, we're going to do it under a couple of conditions. One, we're going to do a show that's positive. A show that showcases the good aspects of a relationship. And secondly, we're going to be ourselves. You know, I don't want to have scripts - you know, some of these reality shows are so fake. We're not going to do that. We're going to have a show that's real, that's authentic, that's not fake. And that's what we've done; what you see on the show is what we are, and people who know us as friends can say that's exactly how we are in real life and we don't script things and we don't do things for ratings.

"It's funny, when we first came out with the show four seasons ago, everyone in Hollywood said, 'The show's going to fail, because people want that scandal, they want the controversy', and if we're not going to give it to them then no-one is going to watch. And I disagreed, and said, 'Well we'll see.' If you look at all the other shows out there they showcase infidelity, and drug use, and violence... it's horrible.

And now, in the all new season (number SIX!), we will see the new and beautiful times Giuliana and Bill are experiencing as parents (all the sweeter after the long and emotional battle to have a baby), as they explore the next stage of their lives and the joys and challenges of cute baby Duke’s first year while still balancing super-busy careers in media.

I for one cannot wait. Will you tune into the latest season, too? Feel free to comment below.

Here is a new promo shot from the show's Facebook page. Redefining adorable...

'Insight': Good Old Sex - sex for older people

Oldies have sex, y'know! Oh stop cringing... where do you think YOU came from?

On a serious note, the stellar SBS TV program 'Insight' this week places the spotlight on the topic of sex - amongst our older citizens. Here is a preview clip:

And here is a video for the American 'Safe Sex for Seniors' ad campaign:

Australians are living longer than ever before - and it seems they’re clearly making the most of it. There has been an explosion in the number of older Australians using online dating sites, and along with this, they have easy access to virility and hormonal drugs if they need some extra help.

But there are downsides. Older Aussies have a comparatively low knowledge of safe sex practices. Think about it: they grew up at a time when the norm was to marry their first sexual partner. They never had sex education in school. Being past their reproductive years, many aren’t insisting on condom use. And so, as a result, rates of sexually transmitted infections amongst older Australians are rising faster than in any other age group.

Host Jenny Brockie also looks at the challenges of having a sex life when living in a nursing home. Aged care workers say some nursing homes are in denial about their residents’ sexual needs and many don’t provide double beds. Some family members are even calling in professional sex workers for their elderly relatives to meet their needs.

Guests for this week's show include:

Joy and George Kimpton
Joy Kimpton and her husband George met online when they were in their seventies. Shortly afterwards, George invited Joy to travel to Tahiti with him and they eventually married. They say their intimacy is important to them, but their adult children haven’t quite come to terms with their relationship.

Here is a preview clip of Joy and George:

Anita Pitt-Owen
Anita organised a sex worker for her 93-year-old father Andrew. He was living in aged care with dementia and he asked Anita to help him find someone to be intimate with. Anita contacted Touching Base, an organisation specialising in sexual services for the elderly and disabled.

Kikis and Froso Eftimiou
Until recently, Kikis Eftimiou and his wife Froso helped run a hostel for elderly Greek people in their community. Kikis says that they wouldn’t encourage hostel residents to engage in sex, but they didn’t mind some displays of affection. He says the Greek community isn’t ready for sex workers in nursing homes.

Doreen Wendt-Weir
Doreen, 84, is the author of Sex in Your Seventies. Her adult children have at times felt embarrassed about the book and about Doreen’s openness about sex. Doreen says sex in her 70s was the best she ever had thanks to chemistry between her and her partner.

Here is a clip featuring Doreen:

Julie Bajic
Julie is a psychologist who works with nursing homes in Sydney. Julie says she gets referrals for residents experiencing depression and anxiety when the issue is actually about sexuality. She says intimacy and touch will improve mental health rather than prescribed medications.

Elaine White
Elaine, 80, specialises in dementia care and sexuality. She says dementia care staff can often feel confronted when they see residents masturbating, and family members sometimes struggle when their loved one begins a sexual relationship with a fellow resident. Elaine has worked with Alzheimer’s Australia NSW.

This week's 'Insight' will be unmissable. Will you be tuning in?

'Insight' is hosted by Jenny Brockie, and airs every Tuesday at 8.30pm on SBS ONE.

'Insight': Good Old Sex screens on Tuesday 19 March, 8.30pm on SBS ONE.

'Making Couples Happy' - ABC TV

This, I am very much looking forward to watching this tonight. Yes, on Valetine's Day.

While the norm is to go out and have dinner somewhere, I am more than happy to kick back after the kiddies go to bed, order takeaway, pop some bubbles... and watch this ABC TV doco called 'Making Couples Happy.' I know, I know... super romantic.

All jokes aside, I do like a good Aussie doco which deconstructs relationships and uncovers the secrets to a happy relationship. With one in three Australian marriages ending in separation, you'd wanna know the answer, and some guidance doesn't go astray.

Here is the preview clip:

Following in the format of hit ABC TV series 'Making Australia Happy' - which proved that science can make individuals happy in just two months - 'Making Couples Happy' is setting out to do the same.

Frankie & Johnny: "I'm afraid"

I just watched the 1991 movie 'Frankie & Johnny' again - starring Al Pacino and Michelle Pfeiffer - and this scene in particular got me right there. It tells of the scary thought processes that go through the head of a single person resisting a new relationship. Watch:

Says Johnny: "You don't have to be afraid anymore."

Frankie: "I am. I'm afraid. I'm afraid to be alone, I'm afraid not to be alone. I'm afraid of what I am, what I'm not, what I might become, what I might never become. I don't want to stay at my job for the rest of my life but I'm afraid to leave. And I'm just tired, you know, I'm just so tired of being afraid."

Kinda broke my heart, but in the last scene, these two afraid-to-get involved people kinda acknowledge that - fear aside - they could actually make this work. Watch:

What's your fave scene from a 'romantic' movie?

Shane Warne and Liz Hurley - their first interview together: Woman's Day

She calls him the “Big Blond” while his nickname for her is “Luna”

Tomorrow the spotlight will firmly be on Shane Warne and Elizabeth Hurley and their highly anticipated first interview for any magazine.

That scoop went to Australia’s highest selling weekly women’s magazine, Woman’s Day.

“It doesn’t get much bigger than this for Australian magazines,” Woman’s Day editor Fiona Connolly said.  “Shane and Elizabeth are one of the world’s most intriguing couples. The story of their romance, engagement and blended family has remained untold - until now.”

Hitting newsstands in a special issue of Woman’s Day out this Friday, Elizabeth and Shane reveal their nicknames for each other: she calls him the “Big Blond” while his nickname for her is “Luna” – after the Sydney's Luna Park.

“Elizabeth calls me a lot more than just the Big Blond – she has dozens of names for me, all of them too embarrassing to share,” Shane tells Woman’s Day.

“I have a handful for her, too, but I usually call her Luna as there was a terrible paparazzi picture of her once looming in to kiss me, which reminded me of the massive mouth at the entrance of Luna Park.”

Fiona adds: “You’ve seen Shane Warne wearing many hats from cricket hero to Aussie larrikin but this is a side of him you could never have imagined.  Woman’s Day readers will be surprised by how honest the couple are about everything from his colourful romantic past, their exes, their kids, how she’s changed him and even plastic surgery.”

“I think we just ‘get’ each other and it feels like we have known one another for ever,’ Shane tells the magazine.

“I understand why Elizabeth and I getting together initially seemed strange to some people and why it created a lot of interest. We are from different worlds, but funnily enough they are very much the same, too," says Shane.

Adds the actress and swimwear designer: “I am extremely happy when I’m with Shane. We are very similar in many ways.

“Despite differences in our backgrounds and careers, we both come from very secure, loving homes and to me that says a lot.”

In the interview, Shane is keen to dispel what he describes as “one of the biggest misconceptions about me”, saying: “I don’t sit in front of the TV and drink 20 cans of beer every night.”

He also reveals the truth about those surgery rumours, telling Woman’s Day: “I can 100 percent tell you that I have not gone under the surgeon’s knife or had a facelift.”

The couple, who first met two years ago and announced their engagement last October, reveal they are likely to marry next year and that celebrations will most probably be held in both countries. “We are very mindful of the fact that our loved ones live at opposite ends of the world,” says Shane, whose three children Brooke, 14, Jackson, 12, and Summer, ten, live with his ex-wife in Melbourne.

And Elizabeth's ten-year-old son Damian is delighted to have “three new playmates on tap”.

“Damian adores them all and rotates round sleeping in all of their bedrooms when we’re in Australia,” she tells Woman’s Day.

The exclusive Woman’s Day photoshoot took place at a family holiday in Sri Lanka, and Shane’s children will be spending part of the summer at Elizabeth’s Gloucestershire farm, where Shane, 42, is now based.

Elizabeth, 46, admits that she found it a “big change going overnight from one child to four” but says she is relishing her role as a stepmother-to-be. “I love it when we’re all together,” she tells Woman’s Day, revealing that her nickname is M2 (“Mummy Two”). “I just try to be the best stepmum that I can.”

Peter and Gary - 'We're Not Nasty People': Who magazine, March 12 2012

My fave article in this week's edition of Who magazine?

Not the Oscars coverage - although I will admit to poring over every detail of each dress, and always love Who's backstage pics.

No, the story I was most excited to read was about Channel 7 hit show 'My Kitchen Rules' couple Peter and Gary.

With the headline stating 'We Are Not Nasty People' (I coulda told you that... I saw right through that classic reality show editing from the get-go) we learn more about the couple who have been together since 1990 (sheesh, that was my first year at uni... eons ago! Twenty two years, in fact).

Almost unrecognisable in their old photo, taken in their early days as a couple, I loved reading that they wore commitment bands on their ring fingers nine months into their relationship.

And watching the show, I love seeing their easy banter and jibes... and equally adore watching them lose at each other. Which couple doesn't do this?

Love is love, and that is that.

The special Oscars edition of Who magazine is on sale now, until Thursday.

Luisana Lopilato - Michael Bublé's girl - in Oh La La' magazine

Luisana Lopilato - Michael Bublé's fiancee - is a Buenos Aires native and an actress, model and singer in Argentina. She's also the covergirl for Argentinian mag Oh La La'.

Lopilato dated her Chiquititas and Rebelde Way co-star Felipe Colombo - they broke up after the Argentine media revealed a private tape of the two during the Nuestro Tiempo Tour in 2003. Oops.

Lopilato was then engaged to her Alma Pirata co-star Mariano Martínez, and tennis player Juan Mónaco. She is now engaged to Bublé - they met during the filming of his video "Haven't Met You Yet", in which she appeared.

She has been the face of underwear brand Promesse, and has worked for such brands as Coca Cola, Gottex, and Gillette, and is currently the face of lingerie brand Marcela Koury and L'Oréal Elvive.
