Violating an ordinance.
--J. C. Tennille was charged with buying fifteen dressed turkeys in the Second Market to sell again. Mr. Tennille acknowledged to the purchase of ten turkeys, but pleaded ignorance of the ordinance as a palliation of his offence. He had asked Mr. Tyler, the clerk, to show him the ordinance regulating the markets, which he had neglected to do. He had just come out of prison, and went to selling in the market to make a living. The Mayor imposed a fine of five dollars and ordered a confiscation of the turkeys.
