Incendiarism.
--About half-past 12 o'clock Sunday night a fire was built in the back basement of a brick residence on Eighth street, north of Leigh, belonging to the estate of the late Philip Rahm; and but for its timely discovery by a negro boy, who occupied the adjoining room, the building would probably have been destroyed. The negro, as soon as he was awakened, gave the alarm, which soon aroused Mr. Adolphus Rahm, who occupied one of the upper rooms, and, together with the assistance of some of the neighbors, who were attracted to the spot by the screams of the females and the cry of fire, they succeeded, after a vigorous effort of fifteen or twenty minutes, in extinguishing the flames with the use of buckets, tubs, &c.
