Pardon refused.

--Governor Smith has refused to grant the application for the pardon of two free negroes named James and Charles Harris, convicted at the August term of the Hustings Court of breaking into the storeroom of Mr. Alexander R. Holladay and stealing about six thousand dollars' worth of groceries. The sentence of the Court will, therefore, be carried into effect, and they will be sold into absolute slavery for life on Monday next.
