The five Dollar notes.

It has been the impression of some persons that Congress would remove the tax imposed at its last session on Treasury notes of the denomination of five dollars, but a quietus was given to that expectation by the action of the House yesterday. There seems to be very little, if any, disposition among the members of the House to meddle with the currency, other than to prevent any further issue of notes than was provided for at its last session.
