Skirmish at Winchester.
Major Calmees, with some sixty men, attacked the enemy last Friday week, at Winchester, and captured thirty prisoners, who arrived here Tuesday last. Our men had left Winchester but a short time when the enemy, one hundred and twenty five in number, came in, who, learning this fact, set out in pursuit of our force, which Major Calmees being apprised of by their appearance close to his rear, about faced, ordered a charge, and drove them headlong through the streets and a short distance beyond Winchester, making the above capture. The prisoners are from the 6th West Virginia 7th West Virginia, and 14th Pennsylvania cavalry, and among them is Lieut. Madera, of the first named regiment. They all belong to Averill's command.
