Destruction of an ancient Mansion House.

--On Monday, the 10th inst., the ancient Sandy Hill Mansion House, in St. Paul's Parish, S. C., the property of J. B. Campbell, was destroyed by fire. It was formerly the residence of Gen. Wm. Washington, where he died, and where he received and entertained his illustrious kinsmen during his Southern tour. The house was one of the few, if not the only, remaining residences in that parish of colonial date. The estate came into the possession of Gen. Washington by his intermarriage with Jane Elliot, about the close of the revolution of 76, and remained in his family till the possession of the present proprietor, who had preserved and restored it from decay.
