Sunday schools.

--In these times, when day schools are scarce and tuition high, many children will be deprived of all educational advantages. Numbers will grow up in ignorance. This is true especially of that class most deserving our sympathy--soldiers' children. We know no better plan for remedying the evil than by the establishment of Sunday schools in every community.

The Christian public are not idle in this matter. The Baptist denomination has appointed Rev. Wm. E. Hatch, of Manchester, as Sunday School missionary for Virginia. His work will be to organize, as far as practicable, a Sunday School in every Baptist church. He goes forth under the patronage of the Southern Baptist Convention, whose board is diligently engaged in publishing valuable Sunday School books.
