Fire at Sycamore Church.
--About ten o'clock on Thursday night a fire occurred in the basement story of Sycamore (Campbellite) church, located on 11th street, between Broad and Marshall. The fire proceeded from a large pile of wood deposited under the lecture room of the church, and when discovered had burst through the floor and was spreading towards the pulpit, which was slightly damaged. The firemen were promptly on the spot, and by speedily turning a stream on succeeded doubt less in saving the building. Damage slight. The fire was the work of an incendiary, as the room in which it occurred had not been need for the past week or ten days. General Winder has been osing the lecture room of this church for some time as a place for holding court martials, and it is supposed that certain parties interested conceived the design of burning up the building in order to destroy the evidence therein against them.
