Wood for the Ibor.
--A benevolent gentleman, who is anxious to aid the poor in procuring fuel for the winter, has on foot a plan for delivering one-quarter of a cord of wood, at a cost of $5, to every family in the city. He has arranged for a supply of wood, but his trouble now is to get horses and carts with which to deliver it. The city would no doubt aid in the delivery; but to make the plan at all valuable at least thirty teams would be required. As the wood is to be delivered to rich and poor alike, it is supposed that persons not needing it will pay the $5 charged and turn the fuel over to their more needy neighbors or acquaintances. If the plan can be carried out it will save a vast deal of suffering this winter.
