Vicksburg March 25
--Two of the enemy's gunboats attempted to pass down the river this morning. Our batteries opened upon them with effect. One was sunk opposite our batteries. The other was badly riddled, and now Res opposite the canal batteries. It is expected that she will be sunk. The was set on fire, but appeared to be extinguished. The firing of our batteries was splendid. Almost every shot took effect.

The following telegram was received this morning from Gen. Stevenson:

Four boats came to the turn at sunrise. Two attempted to pass--one was sunk, with all on board, the other Has at the month of the canal apparently disabled.
