Arrests.

--The city police on Saturday arrested George W. Bill for using abusive language and trespassing on and assaulting Burwell Jones. Also, two men for getting drunk and encumbering the sidewalk. Andrew, slave of Henry Alsop, as a runaway, John Thomas Cosby, an orphan, who had "no place to stay" William Cook, for breaking into one of the freight cars of the Virginia Central railroad and stealing three cows and a calf; valued at $300; and Thomas Franklin, for entering Edmund Griffin's house and stealing $1,000 in C. S. Treasury notes. Cyrus Charles, for assaulting and beating his wife, was put in the cage Sunday morning.
