Naval engagement.

--At eleven o'clock yesterday the gun-boat Florida engaged a large Federal steamer which was blockading Pelf Island Pass, and after a sharp fight of an hour fifteen minutes the enemy hauled to rd towards the frigate Macedo with him, she continued her co Pensacola. She appeared, from d, to be seriously injured. Noth the enemy struck the Florida, ny of the shells exploded quite near here body hurt" on our side.-- Mobile Tribune, 25th inst.

The Advertiser and Register states that the enemy's steamer is the New London, and that thousands witnessed, the fight from forts Morgan and Gaines, and from the blockading vessels outside.
