Attempted Escape.
--A convict named Ball, who is serving out a sentence of twelve years in the penitentiary for a heinous crime committed in Washington county, made an unsuccessful attempt to elope from that institution last. Tuesday evening. Having removed his name from his cell door, he secreted himself in one of the shops, and awaited a convedent opportunity to carry out the remainder of his programme. The officer who went to look up the cells soon ascertained that one of the bomders was missing, and after a long search the amunitious Ball was found and conducted to his dormitory.
