From the Upper Potomac.

Pleasant Hill, Md., Sept. 12.
--There was firing on Sunday in the direction of Conrad's Ferry. The Rhode Island battery threw 20 shells at the Confederate cavalry, camped two miles from the river. Every arrangement has been made to give the Confederates a warm reception should they attempt to cross between Great Falls and Point of Rocks.
