Pike's Peak.
--A gentleman, who for more than a year has been out in the Pike's Peak gold region, writes as follows:‘ "Very few know that there is a population of nearly sixty thousand at the base and in the gorges of the Rocky Mountains at Pike's Peak; that there are over three hundred steam quarts mills at work; that there is a town of seven thousand inhabitants, containing large brick blocks, churches and schools, supporting three good looking and ably edited daily newspapers, where two years ago nothing was seen but wild animals!"
