The Clay statue

--We have been informed that this statue, which graces the western portion of the Square, has been lately subjected to so much handling by visitors that the marble has become much discolored. We have been requested to call on the ladies, to whom the statue has been entrusted for safe keeping, to do their duty. We don't know how they will set about it, unless they erect additional barriers around the effigy of the great Kentuckian. The ladies, however, are futile in ingenious expedients, and may devise some way to prevent a mutilation of the statue, without giving offence to the people.
