A Regiment of Artillery.
--A gentleman direct from New Orleans informs us that Tuesday was fixed upon for the departure from that city of a regiment of Artillery, 475 strong. He says this regiment is composed of the most effective artillerists on the Continent, many of them having served with great distinction during the Mexican war. They bring with them thirty-six powerful field prices, and one hundred and forty-four horses. We are not prepared to announce the destination of this strong arm of defence for the South, but we presume they will find their way to Virginia soil before Christmas.--Petersburg Express.
