Marine disaster.
--A mackerel schooner, from Gloucester, Mass., was recently rundown by a steamer in a dense fog, near Cape Canso, and, after floating two days waterlogged, seven of the crew were washed overboard. The remaining nine took a boat, which capsized, and two men were devoured by sharks. The remaining seven recovered the boat, and two more died of exhaustion. The survivors were rescued by a Portuguese vessel and carried to St. Domingo, where the American Consul treated them kindly and would send them home. No names are given.
