Anti-Slavery meetings.

An application was personally made by John Taylor for the use of the Town Hall for the purpose of Anti-Slavery Lectures & discussions &c., a remonstrance signed by 45 Inhabitants of the Town, against the letting of the Town Hall for said purposes was presented, and after discussing the propriety of granting the use of the Hall for sd purposes—Voted, that the application aforesaid be not granted—Vol. 4, p. 47. May 1, 1837.

A Petition was presented signed by John Taylor and 10 others for the use of the Town Hall for Lectures and Discussions upon the subject of Slavery—

Voted that the prayer of said Petitioner be granted— Vol. 4, p. 48. May 6, 1837.
