As for amusements, music is the only thing that excites me, and the excitement that affords is most frequently tinged with sadness, though sometimes it goes tingling through my whole soul, like spiritual electricity.
Your eloquent extract is rather “obscura.”
However, I feel that music is “the song of creative origination,” though I cannot explain it. When I try to put it into thought, I say that all colors, all perfumes, all chemical affinities, rose into being and arranged themselves according to the keys of music, and the modulation of music.

When writing on music, she said “the secret of creation seems to lie on my tongue.”
