§§ 14—16. When the persons introduced by Pantaenetus (§ 11) refused to part with their money, i.e. to pay us, unless wc sold the mine, he, the plaintiff, begged us to sell it to them; and at last I assented, wishing to get clear from one who showed by all his conduct that he cared for nothing but his own interests.

ἐφαινόμεθα κ.τ.λ. When it was clear that we were rightfully in possession of what we had bought from Mnesicles.
ἱκέτευεν ἐδεῖτ᾽ ἠντιβόλει In Aph. 1 § 68 δέομαι καὶ ἱκετεύω καὶ ἀντιβολῶ.]
ἐμοῦ The genitive after δεηθέντος. It seems clear from all this that the οἱ ἀμφισβητοῦντες were mere ‘pretenders,’ and that Pantaenetus wished to get a transference of the mine to them that he might regain possession of it. See on § 31.
