ἔστι δὲ τοῦ χειμῶνος καὶ τοῦ θέρους καὶ τοῦ μετοπώρου τὰ ἴχνη ὀρθὰ ἐπὶ πολύ, τοῦ δ᾽ ἦρος συμπεπλεγμένα: τὸ γὰρ θηρίον συνδυάζεται μὲν ἀεί, μάλιστα δὲ ταύτην τὴν ὥραν: ὥστε διὰ τοῦτο ἐξ ἀνάγκης μετ᾽ ἀλλήλων πλανώμενοι τοιαῦτα ποιοῦσιν.
