Go Noodle House 有間麵館 | One Utama

I wasn't a big fan of noodles but I heard that this noodle shop was highly recommended and it is always packed during the lunch and dinner time. I guess I just have to make a trip there and try out their speciality noodles and meat balls. Their first outlet is actually located at Jaya One, they opened another outlet in One Utama, which is located at Lower ground floor beside the escalator and Reebok outlet. You will spot it easily with the big Chinese style entrance.

The place is almost full by the time we left. We reached there before 6pm for early dinner.

Herbal Tea- RM 2.80
In House Pu Er Tea- RM 2.30
Can you guess which is which? Both looks exactly the same colour, but tastes different.

Trio Special Dark Sauce Pan Mee- RM 9.50
I always prefer dry pan mee over soup pan mee, but not everyone can prepare a nice mixture of the dark sauce for the pan mee. Go Noodle did  good job on the taste and texture of their noodles. Even though I am not ordering their famous superior soup pork noodle, but this is definitely a must try item. I would recommend to add on their bursting meat ball or pork ball as the noodles come with only a handful of extras as you can see.

Bursting Meat Ball with homemade spicy soup- RM 10.90
Add on Pork Ball- RM 3.00
If you like spicy then you should try out their spicy soup. The spicy soup was however a bit too spicy for him. Nevertheless, their mian xian noodle is good in terms of texture and taste, it is a thick version of noodles with a nice chewy bite. The bursting meat balls were delicious, I love the texture of the meat ball, bouncy and juicy. The bursting meat ball is basically a layer of meat ball with pork meat inside.

Pork Roll- RM 5.60
Last but not least,  pork roll as the appetiser. Crispy and nice are the two words I will describe it.

Overall the price is quite reasonable especially for a food outlet in shopping mall. If you are a noodle fan, I would recommend you to try it out.

Hong Kong Sheng Kee Dessert 香港盛記甜品 | One Utama

I wasn't a big fan of dessert but when it comes to Hong Kong dessert, normally it will comes with dim sum which I won't reject at all. I visited this place sometime ago in One Utama Shopping Centre when I'm looking for light meal for lunch. It is located at Lower Ground floor at the new wing side, near to Obahmi and Old Siam Kopitiam

This Hong Kong Sheng Kee Dessert is a dessert chain from Singapore with around 18 outlets and they started the first outlet in Malaysia at One Utama Shopping Centre. They served a range of authentic Hong Kong style desserts, snacks as well as noodles and rice.

Let's check out what I have ordered!

Char Siew Sandy Bun- RM 7.50
This is one of their signature bun that you can spotted easily on their advertisement in the mall. The char siew sandy bun is not the crispy version but more like soft and chewy sandy custard bun with sweet char siew inside. I personally prefer it to be crispy on the outside.

Crispy Salmon Skin with Pork Floss- RM 6.50
Another signature dish that I have to try it out. It taste quite nice with the super crispy and airy salmon skin texture, a nice snack before the main dish. However I would prefer if it is less oily.

HK Siew Mai- RM 6.50
I wouldn't rate it as the best Siew Mai in town but it is decent and nice to have. I think the Siew Mai won't go any wrong if they stated themselves as Hong Kong dessert shop, there should be certain standard to achieve.

Yuan Yang Paste-RM 7.50
One of their signature sweet that my friend ordered. The warm black sesame and almond sweet dessert that is placed in a yin and yang figure, nice presentation. Overall taste is acceptable.

Chilled Snow Fungus with Snow Pear-RM 8.50
I ordered this lovely chilled fungus sweet dessert. Overall taste was not too bad, the level of sweetness is just right for me too!

Only RM 28.80 for Lunch and RM 38.80 for Dinner Buffet at Shabu Ten | One Utama

If you are looking for steamboat buffet with nice ambience, this might be the place for you. Good news is it doesn't cost you a boom when come to buffet at nice restaurant. I found this place recently when searching for new food outlets in One Utama. It was quite hidden at the corner that I rarely notice every time I come. It is located at first floor new wing, same area as Padini Concept Store.

Shabu Ten is a Japanese shabu-shabu style of all-you-can-eat buffet restaurant with conveyor belt concept. Most of the ingredients are served on the conveyor belt, easy to pick up your choice of ingredients.

Here is the price, available for lunch and dinner.

However, there is a downside about the ingredients. The portion served on the conveyor belt is so little (should I call tiny?). For example: 2  small half pieces of mushroom in a plate and 2 cm thick of corn. It is kinda frustrated especially when the conveyor belt move in slow pace and you couldn't get enough of ingredients to go into your soup.

Let see what do they have!

There are 4 types of soups to choose from, however we didn't get what the waiter was talking, so I just picked the normal type of soup which are the chicken soup and tomyam. They are using Vees Delicooker for the cooktop, so it is safe, don't worry of any explosion.

There are four types of meat that you can order- Beef, Lamb, Pork and Pork bacon. You can order as many plates as you like, no limit.

Here is how it actually looks like:

There is a long table at the corner that served other cooked food that ready to eat.
Raw vegetables for shabu-shabu, dim sum and chawanmushi in the steamed tray.

Salad bar

Sushi bar

Deep fried corner where you can find ebi fried, okonomiyaki, shishamo, fried chicken and others.

Curry fish ball

Garlic fried rice

Fruit and dessert corner

Chocolate fountain
I love chocolate fountain but unfortunately you can only find biscuits and marshmallows to go with. No strawberry or other ingredients can be found in this section.

Vanilla Ice-cream

Overall the food is not bad except I get a bit frustrated with the portion of ingredients on the conveyor belt. Comparing with others buffet steamboat in Klang Valley, this one definitely not a bad one in terms of the ambience, price and variety of food. It is definitely worth coming back again!

Coco Ichibanya Curry House | One Utama

I was talking about this curry house for a few months, finally found it! It is not the Indian curry house but the Japanese curry house. CoCo Ichibanya finally reached Malaysia and it is opening in One Utama. It is the largest Japanese curry restaurant chain in the world and locally owned by the Fuji Group — the master franchisee of the brand in Malaysia, Singapore and Thailand.

What so special about this shop? Basically they specialise on the Japanese Curry, everything you can find with the curry sauce. I love the one I had in Osaka, hope it will taste the same.

There are two menu books- main dish and beverage. Complimentary of plain water will be given, so you can skip the beverage menu. However, you can still try their green tea or green tea latte in packet.

There are steps to guide you how to order your curry rice. You can always add or reduce your rice portion. They even charge you lesser for smaller portion! Next, you can choose the level of spiciness, scale from 0 to level 5. Be careful when choosing the spicy level, it does make a lot of different. Lastly, you can opt to add more curry gravy, just a few more ringgit in it.

Besides, if you can't find any sets to your favour, you can customise your own curry rice. You can add any toppings in your plain curry rice as stated on the menu below. If you are big eater, I recommend you to add some toppings, the portion is quite small.

Lightly Crisp Chicken Curry- RM 20
We wanted to try something different so we ordered the crisp chicken instead of the pork cutlet. We were quite disappointed with the chicken portion, it is barely the size of my hand. On the other hand, we saw the pork cutlet size were big (standard size). And both of them just RM 1 different in price. We ordered this dish with Level 4 spiciness since we wanted to try how spicy Japanese curry can be and we regretted. It is really spicy and he was sweating while eating. The spicy taste actually came from the spice mix in the curry. However, the taste still incomparable than the one we had in Osaka, quite similar but still not good enough.

Grilled Spinach, Bacon and Corn Curry- RM 20
I always wanted my curry rice to have some vegetable and it is a dream come true now. I can now order my curry rice with spinach, no longer just meat + curry rice! I actually love this dish but the portion of vegetable and bacon is too little. I understand the highlights is the curry but I do love to have more ingredients to go with the curry. For this dish, I ordered the original flavour of spice, it is definitely not spicy at all.

If you are a Japanese curry fan like me, you should try out CoCo Ichibanya. Although the taste still far apart from the curry rice I had in Osaka, but it is the best alternative I can find in KL so far. Definitely I will come back again but might need to add some toppings for the next visit. Now I understand why they offer toppings in the second page. *cheer*

Peanuts Royale Popcorn @ TGV Cinemas

TGV Cinemas recently introduce a new flavour for Royale Popcorn which is the peanuts flavour. As usual going for our Friday movie night, we usually get our popcorn & soda ready before the show. The Peanuts thing caught our attention, we were so curious of this new flavour. I tried royale popcorn but it is too sweet for us and I thought this will be the same too. While struggling to decide, the TGV staff  suddenly brought us some to test, he's so nice and friendly!

The sweetness of the popcorn is just right for us, a mild sense of peanuts flavours, not too strong. If the popcorn is too sweet, normally we will get bored of the taste half way through the movie, but this drive us through all the way to finish. Definitely get myself another one next week!

This peanuts royale popcorn is sold the same as royale popcorn combo price. The combo come with two small drink which cost RM 16.50. If you are a Maybank Credir Card holder, you are entitled for a 10% for all TGV food & beverage.
Peanuts Royale Popcorn is available for limited time only. Grab and try it for yourself!

You can check out my post on the Royale Popcorn that posted sometime in Aug last year.

Uncle Tetsu Cheese Cake | One Utama

I was informed by my brother yesterday that the Japanese Cheesecake chain is in One Utama, however the grand opening is on 25th Oct 2014. So, I was thinking to try out my luck, probably they will open one day earlier for testing and I might grab one home. And I am right, they are open for business before their grand opening!

Just for your information, Uncle Tetsu Cheesecake is originated from Japan and was founded 20 years ago by Mr Tetsushi from Tetsu Global Ltd. Their first shop was in Fukuoka, Japan and by years they expanded to over 45 outlets around Japan before they expand other countries. Good news is they are now in KL, you don't need to fly to Japan or SG to get one now.

Their signature cheese cake is selling at RM19.90 each. If I'm not mistaken, SG is selling 10 dollar.

Another range of cheesecake they are selling in the stall named as Cheese Zuccoto. The cheesecake smaller in size but the texture is more moist and dense.

Their kitchen behind the stall. You can see big ovens behind, no doubt of their hourly fresh baked concept they promised.

Freshly baked cheesecakes hot from oven

Uncle tetsu logo was stamped on each cheesecake by the staff.
