Sparkly rainbow watermarble with NO WATER

My nails look like such juicy rainbow candy I'm having a hard time not eating them.

How's about these for some sparkly rainbow watermarble nails over holo involving NO ACTUAL WATERMARBLING? We all know how much I hate that shit. It's pretty much my life mission to find all the watermarble cheats in the land. This one appears most promising so far and it's super easy.  Plus the way the cheat is designed it actually begs to be put over holo! Check out the video tutorial to see how it all goes down.

Instagram update 2.HOLO

I did my original Instagram nails just a month ago and NOW Instagram decides to change their logo after... how many goddamn years of existence on the internets??? Annoying.

The logo is strange to me because it no longer looks like a camera (dishwasher? earring? keychain? condom package?) but I am happy it's a rainbow gradient. That's one step closer to holo in my books. Of course I added a holo top coat to perfect it.

Taylor Swift 'Bad Blood' nails

Nails inspired by Taylor Swift's new music video, Bad Blood!

Pop-culture reference nail art?!?! WHO KIDNAPPED ME???!! No but in all seriousness I've been obsessed with some of Taylor Swift's recent music videos like Style and now Bad Blood, because well, HOLY MAJOR PRODUCTION. And I get weak in the knees for all the video effects and pee myself at night thinking about how I could acquire such skills and incorporate them into my nail pornos. SO. Here's some blood-dripping nails that I wear in June and don't give a if it's not Halloween.

These were super easy to create using paint drip nail vinyls from Twinkled T! Use my code SIMPLY for 10% off your order :)

Rose gold-tipped and stripes inspired by a classic watch

A simple classic mani for a change! I was inspired by a new watch I got from Daniel Wellington - it's called the Classic Southampton Lady... which is pretty much the opposite of me (Different Canadian Chick?)

I used straight nail vinyls and french tip nail vinyls to help guide the super straight lines. If you shop at Twinkled T you can get nail vinyls and everything else in their store 10% off with my code SIMPLY!

You can grab this gorgeous minimalist watch from www.danielwellington.com and use my code simplynailogical to get 15% off all products until May 15! They ship internationally and pretty quickly too - mine came all the way to Canada from Sweden in a couple of days!

Nail art inspired by the Snupps app - never buy the same nail polish twice!

Something new today! How's about some simple white and orange nails, inspired by a new app I've been using to organize my nail polish collection! Snupps is a free app available for both iOS and Android, and it's basically like virtual shelves where you can catalog pictures of anything that you'd to keep track of, like all your nail polish! This way, next time you're drooling down the nail polish aisle at Rite Aid or Shoppers Drug Mart (pick a country), you can check on your app if you already have that nail polish, or at least a similar one. Check out my account and shelves here :)

Onto the nails! I used orange and white polishes blue some loose iridescent orange glitters from Twinkled T - you can use my exclusive code SIMPLY for 10% off!

Copper tweed nails with black chevron accents

'Cause why not! Actually because Nail It! magazine put out a call for tweed nail art recently, so I gave it a go and was inspired by Karen of @sharingvu on Instagram's take on it with random black accents over the tweed. Here goes!

Quadruple scaled gradient: Mexican rug inspired madness

Oh ma gawd what in the hell is this?!?! I don't even know. Pretty sure it might be a quadruple scaled gradient...but yeah. I have no more words. My head hurts just thinking about how I did this (and then re-thinking how I really should have done it instead), so you best just stop reading words and look at pics instead.

Pretend vacay: Greek waters with saran wrap and water decals

Opa!! I am not Greek and I have never been to Greece butttt.... I would totally go if someone would buy me a plane ticket and pay for some sweet accomodations on the ocean with a private balcony and infiniti pool... any takers? Anyone?

In any case I got these awesome gold angled swirl water decals from Born Pretty Store and I immediately knew I must do a Greece-inspired mani. I used the saran-wrap technique to sponge on spots of polish for the muddy looking waters thing going on on the majority of the nail. The tips were topped off with the one and only 'Buzzed on blue' by Painted Polish by Lexi, which I have swatched here cause it is so awesome.

Turquoise & green returning reciprocal chevron gradient

Another mind bender from the Gradient Guide, this time a new and improved version of the grey and white returning reciprocal chevron gradient I did a few months ago. This look can be done with any colour combo your heart desires! I went with a turquoise and green theme, holding onto summer as long as I can. Chevron mini nail vinyls are from Nailvinyls.com.

BTT Drunk kitty construction: Do not let wasted kitties pass

Today's mani is 1.5 months in the making... not because I actually spent 1,056 hours doing it, but because I leave far too manis hanging out in my 'to edit' folder and hence I am the worst person ever to do a #bestietwinnails with. Tracey of @missbellatracey on Instagram puts up with my slow-pokeness as she is a true Saint and so here we finally are today with our meticulously planned out drunk kitty construction manis!

Twin nails: Multi-coloured skinny chevrons over a white base

Mani swaps are so 2013! Bestie twin nails is where it's at. Nah, I'm just messing with you, they're both still cool and fun to do but I feel like people generally go for the mani swap because it's easy. In other words, all ya gotta do is pick a mani that the other person did and re-create it. Now,  twin nails, on the other hand, requires EFFORT ladies. Cause you have to find a pattern or something online to be inspired by, and it ain't easy. Rough life for us nail bloggers.

Today I've got a twin nails mani with the lovely and talented Lisa of Loud and Lavish inspired by a completely random chevron pattern we found on Google. And guys, she's only 16!! So much talent. When I was 16 I was playing with Sally Hansen's Prisms collection and putting a different colour on each nail and calling that nail art. Back then nail art wasn't a 'thing', people just thought I was tacky. LOOK AT ME NOW, naysayers.

Simple summer tribal with freehanded detail

Today's mani was painted yesterday (wow, this never happens) as opposed to months ago because I decided last minute I wanted to throw an entry into Margaret aka @m_a_tom on Instagram's mani competition she's hosting for reaching 10k followers. Congrats, Margaret! The contest was to create a mani inspired by one of Margaret's nail arts, and as you may recall, I have previously recreated some of Margaret's work and she has similarily re-created mine, so this one is a completely new one for me!

Real estate nails: Sold!

So my sister, who you've had the pleasure of seeing her nails done by me in this post, is a real estate agent in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada and I decided I wanted to see if I could make a sale just by posting real estate-themed nails. I'm probably pressing my luck, but whatever. Remember Jen, I get 10% of your cut!

Eos lip balm: Bestie twin nails

This #bestietwinnails idea pretty much happened by accident when Tracey of @missbellatracey on Instagram and I were chatting up our usual crazy. I think it went something like this: Tracey sending me what seemed like countless pics of her new Eos lip balms and me being like I like the colours of those flavours. That's pretty much why I bought mine too, cause the colours were soooo pretty.

And so, this simple thick Eos-colour inspired ruffian mani was born:

Matte flakie skittle over black for McPolish

So Amy of McPolish aka Polish Etc. recently reached 10k followers on Instagram. As someone who I followed since I started my own nail art/Instagram journey about five months ago, I wanted to congratulate her not just through reposting her giveaway photo, but by re-creating one of my fav manis of hers. Mattifying flakies is also one of her favourite things to do in her spare time, actually I'm pretty sure she mattifies almost every mani with flakies. All hail to McPolish, queen of #matteall alltheflakies.

Forest silhouette over pink and purple cloudy sunset

Further to yesterday's post of an ad hoc pink and purple cloudy sunset thing, here's the actual finished mani. I was inspired by a photograph taken by my friend. She used real film photography (ancient, I know) to process the film. I just loved the rich pinks and purples in the cloudy sky above the forest treeline.

Pink and purple clouds

I feel like it's been forever since I did an actual nail art post... a whole three days ago! Anyway, I did this mani last month. I was inspired by a photograph taken by a friend that has been hanging in my bedroom for some time. I really loved the colours in the photograph, but since this is a two-part post, you'll see my inspiration for this mani in tomorrow's post so I don't spoil what came next over top of this pink cloudy-esque gradient.
