Illamasqua Throb and Untold - Swatches and Review

Quick post tonight...I was just blown away so I couldn't wait to share.

Illamasqua Throb is perfection in a bottle. Perfect classic, blue-based red creme, perfect formula, self-leveling, opaque in one coat. WOW. ONE coat of color, no clean up, no top coat.

Illamasqua Throb

I can't count how many times I DIDN'T buy this one because I didn't really need another red. Well it's just a good thing I have a good friend who's an Illamasqua-lover and willing to ship goodies to me from the UK! Kim at The Ides of Polish, rocks! Thanks to her I was able to take advantage of QVC UK sales and Illamasqua sales. ♥

So then I topped the accent nail with another of my new acquisitions...Illamasqua Untold. Gorgeous glowy red shimmer, glass fleck. One coat of Untold and one coat of Poshe over everything...

Both of these blew me away, especially with the formulas. I can't wait to try the rest of my Illamasqua haul! So what do you think? Do you have them? Like them?

piCture pOlish Blogfest 2012, Bay-Bee!

Today is piCture pOlish Blogfest 2012 - going on all around the world RIGHT NOW - a day when bloggers like me, all across the web, each post photos of new piCture pOlish shades.

So excited to be a part of it this year! Taking over the blogosphere for a day (actually 48 hours since it's tomorrow in Australia LOL) is exhilarating!

Shamelessly inserting teaser photo here:

piCture pOlish is an Australian brand that provides international shipping of nail polish as well as many other things. One of the most fun features of the piCture pOlish brand, in my opinion, is that they give you the option to customize your own bottle labels or even create your own line of nail polish through them! How cool is that?

The polishes selected for me to show you today are stunning! I must admit that I was a tad apprehensive. You know, you're never sure if you're going to like the polishes and I wasn't looking forward to the possibility of having to give a poor review. But I would have, had the situation called for it. As I've said many times, if the integrity of this blog is lost, I might as well stop. Thankfully, I worried needlessly!

May I present two of piCture pOlish's newest offerings...Amethyst and Dorothy:

Notice the QR Code on the bottle! More on that later.

First up, Amethyst.

piCture pOlish Amethyst

Amethyst is a new and very special polish from the Collaboration Collection. This polish was jointly created by piCture pOlish and Susan from Star Trinkets, a Singapore network member, and is available exclusively through piCture pOlish and Star Trinkets. The name "Amethyst," as the bottle suggests, "guards against intoxication." The Romans used amethyst to protect against intoxication, to encourage trust and to give calmness in danger. Well, I can vouch for the fact that I did not get intoxicated while wearing it and I stayed calm. Draw your own conclusions! For more of the back story on the name, you can google Dionysus. I find it fascinating, but I know most of you are here for the polish p0rn!

Amethyst appears to me to be a somewhat dusty violet purple with violet and blue shimmer, lavender flakes and silver micro-glitter. I LOVE the flakes. It's a bit hard to capture the true color, as is the norm for me with purples. The first photos are color-accurate, but I will also show you how it looks in various lighting. The formula was smooth and easy. The brush is medium and round and it splayed well. I used two coats for full opacity. If you're familiar with piCture pOlish Denim, this is the purple version. WOOT!

The second polish I'll be showing you is Dorothy.

piCture pOlish Dorothy

piCture pOlish is calling Dorothy one of their new MESH shades. I won't elaborate much on the name of this one. The bottle says "created for the Land of Oz." I am sure you can all appreciate the double meaning (the ruby slippers Dorothy wore in the Wizard of Oz and the fact that it was created in the real Land of Oz) so I'll let you work out how clever that is on your own. This polish is available from piCture pOlish and ALL Network Members.

Dorothy is a red base full of hot pink and silver glass fleck glitter pieces. I've included some close ups, both shiny and matte, so you can see for yourselves what MESH is. This polish went on smoothly and easily and was opaque in two coats. It has the same medium round brush that splayed well and it removes like a foil polish. I'm showing it with and without top coat and also with a matte top coat.

I've told you how you can create your own bottle labels or even your own polish line with piCture pOlish, but I also showed a photo with a special label containing a QR Code earlier. Most of you with smart phones will already know what that is, but if you don't, those are scannable codes you can scan with your phone and immediately be directed to details about where to purchase that product.

The Network. This program brings piCture pOlish to you through their network of members worldwide. By clicking on The Network on their site, you will be given a list of Network Members all around the world who carry piCture pOlish shades. Easy-peasy! The Network Members for the US are Kim at Overall Beauty and Leah Ann at Llarowe and for Canada it's Katie at Harlow and Company.

So what are you waiting for? Go! Go to the piCture pOlish site here and be sure and visit them on Facebook, Twitter and Pinterest. And don't forget to show Susan at Star Trinkets some love too - Amethyst was awesome!

Nails Inc. New Burlington Place - Swatches and Review

As usual, I always seem to get back to Nails Inc. I'm obsessed with them lately!  The one I have for you today is SO gorgeous and so complex! New Burlington Place. The name comes from the area in Mayfair, City of Westminster, London and I wish I was there right NOW!

New Burlington Place is from Nails Inc.'s Midas Collection and I'm going to call it a duochrome, but I'm not entirely sure it's not a multichrome. It applied perfectly, like a creme! But it's full of glass flecks! It is a coppery/gold/autumn orange/rich berry red color. Well I'll just let you see for yourself. Two coats of color and one coat of Poshe top coat.

Well, didn't I TELL you?  Isn't it amazing?  Have you tried this one yet?  What's your favorite Nails Inc. polish? It would be perfect for Autumn. It also reminds me of MAC Bad Fairy, but I've only ever seen that in the bottle and in photos on the internet, so I could be way off.

Nails Inc. polishes are available in limited colors in the US at Sephora.com and a few other e-tailers. Unfortunately, the NailsInc.com site in the UK doesn't ship to the US...yet. Thankfully I have a few friends in the UK. =)
