Travel restrictions for Americans, not illegal migrants
Just wow. Sometimes that's all I can manage to say because there are not enough words in the English language to express the shock, outrage and disgust for things that leftists do or are allowed to get away with doing.

Migrant workers as cheap labor, out. Robots,in.
Via Popular Mechanics,
Harvesting Washington state's vast fruit orchards each year requires thousands of farmworkers, and many of them work illegally in the United States. That system eventually could change dramatically as at least two companies are rushing to get robotic fruit-picking machines to market. The robotic pickers don't get tired and can work 24 hours a day."Human pickers are getting scarce," said Gad Kober, a co-founder of Israel-based FFRobotics. "Young people do not want to work in farms, and elderly pickers are slowly retiring."FFRobotics and Abundant Robotics, of Hayward, California, are racing to get their mechanical pickers to market within the next couple of years.
It may be a few years away, but a significant portion agricultural labor has already been moved to robotic means.

I wonder if the DNC is paying minimum wage.
Hat Tip to Drudge.
(Washington, DC) – Judicial Watch announced today that it filed a complaint with the Federal Election Commission requesting that it investigate the Democratic National Committee (DNC) for having “knowingly hired” an illegal alien, Cindy Nava, to help craft the committee’s 2016 political message and communications. Judicial Watch filed its complaint on August 25, 2015.A June 8, 2015, story in The Washington Post reported that the DNC hired Nava with full knowledge of what DNC chair Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz (D-FL) termed Nava’s “undocumented status.” The news report details that “Despite not yet attaining legal status, Nava is working for the Democratic National Committee as one of a crop of fellows from around the country helping the party organize ahead of a presidential election that President Obama predicted would feature immigration as a major issue.” The Spanish language newspaper El Nuevo Herald reports that Nava would help coordinate DNC outreach to “women, youth, and Hispanics.”Federal law prohibits foreign nationals from participating “directly or indirectly in the decision-making process” of federal, state, or local election-related activities.
Dirty politics.

Conservative media, please get all over this
In San Francisco, illegal immigrant Francisco Sanchez , who had been deported five times, shot and killed a young woman. His public defender is blaming gun control. The sheriff is backing San Francisco's sanctuary city approach to immigration.
It's not about guns. It's about illegal immigration vs. legal immigration and it's about the wild west sanctuary cities that feel they can supersede federal law.
And it's about Hillary Clinton and her ilk hijacking the dialogue with a simple agreement that this is terrible and then jumping off onto their own agenda-driven talking points about immigration, or gun control.
We should be up in arms protesting sanctuary cities. We should double down on legal immigration not illegal immigration. This unfortunate event proves our points. It's tailor made for us as an issue. We can stop this from happening again or at least as often if we can enact our agenda. We should be all over this .
So far, we're not.

No, Sotomayor, THIS is what's insulting...
According to a CBS report, Supreme Court Justice Sotomayor has stated that labeling illegal immigrants as criminals is insulting.
Sotomayor was asked at a talk at Yale Law School later in the day about her use of the term “undocumented immigrants” rather than the traditional illegal alien. Sotomayor characterized the issue as a regulatory problem and said labeling immigrants criminals seemed insulting to her.“I think people then paint those individuals as something less than worthy human beings and it changes the conversation,” Sotomayor said.
Firstly, no one is painting them as "less than human". That's a mis-characterization of the opinions of those who oppose illegal immigration. It's unfair to the point of absurdity. But that's often the point when liberals talk about conservatives. Mis-characterize their positions and then ridicule them. That's right out of the Alinsky playbook (which can still be countered by the way).
Secondly, if I could direct your attention to the dictionary definition of the word criminal:
: involving illegal activity : relating to crime: relating to laws that describe crimes rather than to laws about a person's rights: morally wrong
The word illegal is in the definition of criminal. Not unexpectedly, the definition of illegal includes criminal as a synonym, below the definition.
: not allowed by the law : not legal: not allowed by the rules in a game
Illegal immigration is called illegal because it is being done outside the law. The very definition of illegal indicates criminal activities. It is not the right of a non-American citizen to become one, without due process, and a legal application to become a citizen, or even a visitor.
What is insulting Justice Sotomayor, is that your opinion has been elevated to the level of the Supreme Court - the ultimate arbiter of legal justice in America - when it appears you do not even understand the basic concepts of law (at least, in this instance).
Interestingly, there's an article at PolicyMic that leverages the global warming crowd's tactics of changing the labels and argues that we should stop using the very term illegal immigrant. The points it makes are a likely reflection of Sotomayor's thinking on the issue.
Aside from the fact that the term "illegal immigrant" is not legally accurate, it completely dehumanizes and wrongfully criminalizes millions of people instead of their actions.
The point is their actions are indeed illegal (even in the cases when it is unintentional like it may be with second generation illegal immigrants). The word, used in conjunction with the word immigrant, is a way to differentiate between illegal and legal immigrants. Period. We don't say illegal jaywalkers because the fact that it is illegal is implied - there is no 'legal' jaywalking .
The other arguments made in the PolicyMic article by the way, are fatuous and based on the clichéd and ridiculous notion that American immigration laws are "draconian". That point isn't even worth a counter-argument. However, if you want one as Forbes noted, the United States is the most legal immigration friendly country in the world in raw numbers. Without getting into a debate about the right level on a percentage basis (based on infrastructure and the relative ability to absorb more immigrants), the United States ranked in the top 25 of countries around the world. That's not bad.
Illegal immigration must be addressed, and it must be addressed intelligently. What the left, including Justice Sotomayor, are doing, is promoting a political advantage for themselves under the guise of acting humanely. No one is suggesting rolling up in trucks and deporting children back to Cuba by force like Bill Clinton did. Well, almost nobody. But letting everyone in with amnesty will be as successful as a one-size-fits-all health care solution.

Democrat priorities laid bare
This lays bare how Democrats think. Veterans have been cast aside in favor of illegal immigrants. How this could possibly sit with the American public, any of it, is beyond me. This is a glaring example of where Democrat priorities lie - not in what's right, but in what's right for them in vote buying. Disgraceful.
A final effort by Senate Republicans to halt cuts to pensions of military retirees failed late Tuesday, after Democrats blocked an amendment to the controversial budget bill. The two-year budget agreement, which cleared a key test vote earlier in the day, was expected to get a final vote no later than Wednesday.Ahead of the final vote, Sen. Jeff Sessions, R-Ala., tried unsuccessfully to use a parliamentary tactic to force a vote on the amendment, which he wrote to undo the cuts for military retirees.A provision in the already House-passed bill would cut retirement benefits for military retirees by $6 billion over 10 years.Sessions wanted to instead eliminate an estimated $4.2 billion in annual spending by reining in an IRS credit that illegal immigrants have claimed. He and fellow senators argued the bill unfairly sticks veterans and other military retirees with the cost of new spending.
Spending cuts have to happen, and they have to come from somewhere. But come on, does this seem right to anyone?

Blame...Canada??? |
I've always said I wanted to become an American citizen. The country is truly great. Other than the Democratic party and it's destructive progressivist influence, what's not to love about the country? I've said that someday I will try to become an American citizen, and even joked that given the left's push for amnesty I might go illegally and end up voting against them once they grant me a path to citizenship. I'd never do that. But it seems like Canada is receiving the brunt of the U.S. government's border protection policy. Mexican gangs are killing people along the U.S. border (apparently with weapons provided to them by the Department of Justice - no kidding), millions of Mexicans have streamed across the border to take jobs provided for illegal aliens, to draw welfare or to commit felonious crimes. Don't try to say they are streaming across the border illegally to engage in legal activities. They by definition, can't. Drugs pour across the southern U.S. border with a volume akin to Niagara Falls. Iran is supposedly sending ships to patrol the Gulf of Mexico. Clearly the Canadian border needs protection.

France is expelling its illegals
France is further along the immigration path than America. 10% of it's population is Muslim, and the percentage is growing. In the United States, about 7% of the census population is Mexican (2002). But the nation of origin is not important. In fact, it's Eastern European Gypsy immigrants the Sarkozy government is expelling. This despite the claims in that country of the racism of such actions.
Sarkozy seems unfazed.
Sarkozy called a government meeting Wednesday after Roma clashed with police this month after the shooting death of a gypsy youth fleeing officers in the Loire Valley.
Sarkozy said those responsible for the clashes would be "severely punished" and ordered the government to expel all illegal Roma immigrants, almost all of whom have come from eastern Europe.
Meanwhile in the U.S., Arizona can't enforce federal immigration law. It makes you wonder what sort of decisions were being made in the dying years of Rome. And one can't help but wonder if France gets this, why don't Americans - or at least the judges?

Obama off base on the liberal base
It looks like President Obama didn't get his uber-bounce that Bill Clinton predicted he would get as a result of his health care bill passage. Further, it looks like the jobs prospects won't save Democrats in the mid-term elections either. The energy stuff isn't a winning issue for the Democrats either - Cap and Trade is dead. Blame Bush sounds like it will be offered as a defence for economic issues, but it's not going to be the main strategy. The pickings are slim for Democrats for campaigning. The last play in the playbook? Race-baiting over the new law in Arizona. I really hope that's what they run with. It'll help nobody in the Democrat party, and especially not Harry Reid.

Obama: Legalize illegals to get them health care - Washington Times
Just a brief reminder about this issue. President Obama changed his number of people without coverage to 30 million from 46 million. That was before Joe Wilson accused him about lying that illegal immigrants would be covered by his proposal. And then after the speech and the White House quietly admitting Joe Wilson was right, the President appears to want to include them in his coverage plan. Obama: Legalize illegals to get them health care - Washington Times.
It makes no sense because with ACORN on the defensive, there's no way illegals will get registered to vote. So why bribe them with free health care? There's no personal payoff for the President.
Too harsh? Too bitter? Too cynical? Overly sarcastic? Maybe. But he sure doesn't make it easy to overlook the cynical views of his Presidency.

Mexican Immigration Graph
A graph on Mexican immigration from PEW Research. It pretty much speaks for itself, but the article at PEW points out that 11% of the entire Mexican born population that is alive today, currently lives in the United States.

Wow.
