SorryWe'reClosed! Discusses Debut Album, Re-releasing EP, Singles, and Even Shows!

Metalcore unit SORRYWE'RECLOSED came together on a whim, releasing various singles and an EP. All of this has lead to them writing and recording towards an album! Shows are in the works, with tours likely to happen as well as re-releasing their previous works too! Catch what the band had to discuss with us below!

1. Where did you get the idea for the band name, you planned it or came out just like that?

I could try to come up with some bullshit deep meaning about where it came from but honestly? I was laying in bed trying to come up with anything and "SorryWe'reClosed" was the first thing that I thought of... that didnt suck.

2. Why did you want to play this genre?

I've always loved Metalcore and wanted to be in a Metalcore band, when we formed SorryWe'reClosed we wanted it to be a love letter to the music that shaped our childhoods!

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?

Me and Crim have known each other since we we're little kids! We have a lot of history together but through all the S**t we've been through we've come out stronger than ever! Other than that we've known our bassist Kam since high school and just recently met an awesome drummer named Joey!

4. Where is the band based out of and what is your music scene like there? Are there any local bands you could recommend?

We're from Boston, MA! Our local scene is absolutely incredible, I've got to shout out my friends in Shapethrower of course but I'm also a huge fan of The Greying, Swollen Teeth, and Brace For Impact! There's also a great emo scene out here with bands like In Plain Sight and Dead Wait!

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?

As I mentioned earlier, SorryWe'reClosed is a love letter to bands and music that shaped our childhoods, we grew up on Attack Attack!, Asking Alexandria, Memphis May Fire, August Burns Red, A Day To Remember, and Bring Me The Horizon. Personally, the Alt music scene saved my life and I'm inspired every day to give back to the scene that saved me

6. What are your songs about? (What specific themes do they cover?)

Our songs cover a wide range of themes ranging from mental health, finding your own identity, and our experiences as members of the LGBTQ+ community, I myself am a trans woman and Crim identifies as gender apathetic. These experiences shaped who we are as people and we express that with out music.

7. Do you write your own songs? (Discuss the songwriting process in detail.)

I usually write all the instrumentals and work with Crim on the lyrics and vocal parts there have been occasions where Crim will have a certain idea for an instrumental or I'll already have a set of lyrics for a song I wrote, I mean for example, Autumn Into Winter was written over a year before we even started talking about making music together by myself and was planned to be a solo release but it fit the vibe of SWC well so we re-did the harsh vocals with Crim and released it as our first single from the album!

8. What have you released so far and what can someone expect from your works?

We've released a demo EP and 4 singles now so far, the EP is rough around the edges but conveys the idea of what we want our music to be, our most recent 4 singles are a notable step up in both songwriting and production quality as we had managed to establish a style for ourselves, we describe it as Emotional Hardcore but there's hints of screamo, metalcore, and hardcore punk.

9. Do you have any new music in the works?

The singles I mentioned have been leading up to an album! We're looking at a late February release but I don't know if we have an exact date yet. It's 10 tracks of some of my favorite songs I've had the pleasure of writing.

10. How about playing shows and touring, have anything planned out?

We're looking to do some shows leading up to and after the release of our album! Our first show is in the works right now with some awesome bands!

11. What plans do you have for the future as a band?

After the album comes out we wanna play live all around the New England region, I'm talking everything from New York to Maine. We're probably gonna re-visit that EP and do some kind of proper release of the songs with better production and a less demo-y sound!

12. Where can we listen to your band and where can we buy your stuff?

We're on all streaming platforms! We don't have any merch yet but if enough people have interest in it we'll make something work! We also have an email list you can sign up to with Tribly for exclusive content, we just dropped a sneak peak from the album on there. You can find all of this at linktr.ee/sorrywereclosedma! Thank you Natalie's World for having us!
