Ceramic Bud Vases, Planters, Trinket Dishes and Incense Holders

Ceramic artist and an illustrator Chien Nie is the creator behind Lithops Studio. She hand sculpts incense holders, trinkets dishes, planters and bud vases inspired by her natural surroundings, the books she has enjoyed, fleeting emotions, and urban living. Chien has experimented with several art mediums but for her it's the clay that gives her the flexibility to create anything her mind conjures up. She handmakes each piece that's mounted with a tiny animal figurine to carry an incense, a flower or knick-knacks for you. You can find what's she currently working on by following her on Instagram.

Sculpted Functional Pieces Decorated With Patterns and Gold

These adorable little guys are sculpted by Normantė Naruševičienė a ceramic artist from Lithuania. She makes a variety of functional ceramics including planters, cups, soap dishes, bowls, pencil holders, and plates. Each piece is handmade and decorated with lovely patterns and illustrations inspired by nature. After the pieces are finished with glaze and underglazes the artist accents them with 18k gold glaze that makes the details "pop".

You can find the ceramics shown above and more in her online store Mante Ceramics.

Ceramics With Cut Edges to Match the Wings of the Raised Birds

Utuwaya Mitasu is a ceramic artist from Japan. She creates functional ceramics including cups, plates, bowls, vases and much, much more. Her pieces are like poetry featuring flora and fauna in pastel hues that bring the delicate feel to her work. She shaves of the edges of her pottery to match the shape of the subject she picked for the piece. For example: the sides of a plate cut into the shape of the wings of a humming bird, or into the shape of floral vines surrounding the owl. Her cups usually have a three dimensional butterfly perched on the edge.

These ceramics featuring raised hopping bunnies, deer in midst of woodland, humming bird drinking nectar, owls flying in an open sky will instantly bring whimsy to any dining table. You can go to her blog to learn more about her work and to get updates on her upcoming show.
