  • Earlier this month, we celebrated the graduation of our Project Search interns, who throughout the year have gained valuable work experience at the Great Western Hospital, taking on a variety of roles such as porters, mailroom staff, and café cleaners. 🎉 Kelly Milne, our Learning and Development Coordinator, shares: "I’m delighted to have been involved in this fantastic internship programme that empowers and supports local young people with autism or learning disabilities to gain work experience and thrive in a workplace setting. "All the interns should be incredibly proud of their hard work and resilience during the placements, and we wish them all the best in their future careers.” A big thank you to all our partners, including New College Swindon, Swindon Borough Council, Serco, DFN Project SEARCH and Swindon SEND Families Voice for making this programme come to life.

  • To celebrate #SouthAsianHeritageMonth some of our colleagues have shared their experience working in the NHS and their favourite things about their South Asian heritage. South Asian Heritage Month celebrates the South Asian cultures that link the UK with South Asia and significantly impact various aspects of our life, such as food, clothing, music, words, and the overall ambiance of our towns and cities. This is an opportunity to learn more about the rich diversity of our South Asian workforce across the Trust, and the South Asian community in Swindon. 💙

  • Have you ever wondered what it is like to be a surgeon in the NHS? Last year we purchased a new surgical robot to help make some surgery less invasive and improve outcomes for our patients. Anwar Owais, Consultant Colorectal Surgeon, was part of our team to use the new surgical robot in it's first procedure. You may not realise however that the work of our surgeons like Anwar goes far beyond the operating theatre. Among many other jobs, they hold dedicated clinics with patients and work with our ward teams to manage their care and recovery. Watch our special video to see a behind-the-scenes tour of a day in the life of one of our surgeons.

  • Last week we hosted our first Dare 2 Nurse two-day summer school for local Year 12 students aspiring to become nurses. 🌟💙 The event was an excellent opportunity for students to explore the role and responsibilities of nurses, shadow staff in clinical areas, and develop application and interview skills. We look forward to keeping in touch with everyone who attended and support their journey into nursing.
