Have you ever wondered what it is like to be a surgeon in the NHS? Last year we purchased a new surgical robot to help make some surgery less invasive and improve outcomes for our patients. Anwar Owais, Consultant Colorectal Surgeon, was part of our team to use the new surgical robot in it's first procedure. You may not realise however that the work of our surgeons like Anwar goes far beyond the operating theatre. Among many other jobs, they hold dedicated clinics with patients and work with our ward teams to manage their care and recovery. Watch our special video to see a behind-the-scenes tour of a day in the life of one of our surgeons.

Intimidating and disruptive behaviours in surgical teams can damage patient care and cause significant and unnecessary distress to colleagues. This behaviour must be tackled. Our guidance, Managing disruptive behaviours in surgery, supports the surgical community to identify, prevent and address such problems, and sets out a list of expected behaviours of all surgeons. President, Marvel Group | Helping hospitals collaborate with private practice spine surgeons to improve outcomes | Patient Advocate | Husband & Dad
Spine surgeons already carry a lot of risk, and private practice spine surgeons are facing another round of reimbursement cuts. Providing a surgery guarantee to your patients can help formalize some of that risk, turning it into financial assistance for patients when needed, and increasing surgeon reimbursement when patients avoid follow-up visits to the operating room. #PatientPromise #SurgeryGuarantee Marvel Group

A great weekend giving the gynecologic keynote address for Richard Wolf Medical Instruments Corporation National Sales meeting on operative hysteroscopic resectoscopy. I feel fortunate as a clinician and surgeon to partner with industry to bring the best surgical care to my patients and to educate others about the benefits of minimally invasive surgery. For my fellow physicians,: working with industry can often not only help your patients and your practice, but give you a creative outlet to explore new procedures or ideas around your work. If you have been looking for your next thing, try it out! #LifelongLearning #ILookLikeASurgeon

Surgical experience makes all the difference. When undergoing a serious procedure like Artificial Disc Replacement, do you want a surgeon who has performed the surgery just once? Of course not! You want someone who performs several of these procedures each week. Dr. Lanman performs at least 4️⃣ ADR surgeries weekly, while many doctors do as little as one to two per month. Some surgeons have only done one in their professional career because it’s not taught as often as it should be in surgical training. In addition to performing ADR surgeries for his patients, Dr. Lanman trains other surgeons on the procedure's intricacies to ensure they have the knowledge to perform ADR expertly. Growing the surgical field’s experience in ADR is vital to expanding patient access to this life-changing procedure. We’re proud to be led by a surgeon moving the frontline forward. #spinehealth #spine #spinecare #spinesurgeon #beverlyhillsca

Have you ever considered the pivotal role medical assistants play in ensuring seamless surgical procedures in orthopaedics? Medical assistants provide invaluable contributions to the meticulous set-up before surgery, including precise positioning, and essential support during the procedure itself. During surgery, assistants help maintain optimal conditions, such as holding fractures in reduced positions, safeguarding vital structures, and managing instrument suction, all to ensure the surgeon's clarity and focus. The surgeon and a more senior and experienced assistant can even operate concurrently, enhancing efficiency and patient care. The value medical assistants provide is indispensable! #DrSekeitto #MedicalAssistants
