Our Cardiology team were pleased to recently welcome international delegates to share best practice on delivering cardiac resynchronisation therapy. Guests were welcomed to witness a procedure in our Cardiac Catheterisation Laboratory using the latest technology and ask questions of our Consultant Cardiologists, Dr Paul Foley and Dr Badrinathan Chandrasekaran. Well done to the team for supporting care for patients beyond Swindon and Wiltshire

https://lnkd.in/g4CvcRUT Article title: How the New International recommendation for Electrocardiographic interpretation in Athletes would change our practice Author(s): Roberto Ferrara; Andrea Serdoz; Mariangela Peruzzi; Elena Cavarretta Journal: Journal of Cardiovascular Medicine and Cardiology Journal ISSN: 2455-2976 Introduction: Recent evidences in the prevention of sudden cardiac death (SCD) confirmed the importance of pre-participation cardiovascular screening in athletes to early identify, and further disqualify from the competition, all the athletes, if any, affected by life-threatening serious cardiac pathologies that can lead to SCD [1-2]. At present, there is no consensus regarding the optimal strategy for athletes’ pre-participation screening. #CoronaryArteryDiseases #ValvularHeartDisease #Electrophysiology #CardiacElectrophysiology #Echocardiography #InterventionalCardiology #ClinicalCardiology #NuclearCardiology #AcuteCoronarySyndromes #ArrhythmiaEP #CVImaging #CVDPrevention #CardiacArrhythmias #Peertechz #PeertechzPublications #OpenAccess #ScientificJournals #PeerReviewedJournals #OpenAccessPublishers #CardiacPhysiology #CardiacRegeneration #CardiacRehabilitation #Cardiomyopathies #CardiovascularDrugs #CardiovascularTherapy #CardiovascularAnatomy #CongenitalHeartDefects

https://lnkd.in/gHfbpybB Article title: “C” Trouble: Class IC Anti-arrhythmic Toxicity Author(s): Maia Eng; William Wung; Uma N Srivatsa; Gagan D Singh Journal: Journal of Cardiovascular Medicine and Cardiology Journal ISSN: 2455-2976 Introduction: The most common cardiac arrhythmia encountered in clinical practice is atrial fibrillation (AFib). AFib has significant effects on long-term mortality and stroke, and contributes greatly to overall healthcare costs, affects quality of life and the functional status of many patients [1]. The incidence and prevalence of AFib continues to rise with age, when co-morbidities that affect rhythm management frequently co-exist [1]. #CoronaryArteryDiseases #ValvularHeartDisease #Electrophysiology #CardiacElectrophysiology #Echocardiography #InterventionalCardiology #ClinicalCardiology #NuclearCardiology #AcuteCoronarySyndromes #ArrhythmiaEP #CVImaging #CVDPrevention #CardiacArrhythmias #Peertechz #PeertechzPublications #OpenAccess #ScientificJournals #PeerReviewedJournals #OpenAccessPublishers #CardiacPhysiology #CardiacRegeneration #CardiacRehabilitation #Cardiomyopathies #CardiovascularDrugs #CardiovascularTherapy #CardiovascularAnatomy #CongenitalHeartDefects

https://lnkd.in/g3BtJCXW Article title: Home Monitoring of Implantable Remote Loop Recorders Expedites Intervention Author(s): Vincent Walker; Roger Beadle* Journal: Journal of Cardiovascular Medicine and Cardiology Journal ISSN: 2455-2976 Abstract: A70 year old woman had a Reveal LINQ (Medtronic, Minneapolis, MN, USA) implantable loop recorder (ILR) implanted to investigate a cardiac cause of syncope.Due to the ability of this device to utilise home monitoring, early detection of a significant bradycardia allowed early intervention with permanent pacing before any further episodes of syncope occurred. This highlights the utility of home monitoring with newer generation ILRs. #ImplantableLoopRecorder #CardiacPacing #HomeMonitoring #CoronaryArteryDiseases #ValvularHeartDisease #Electrophysiology #CardiacElectrophysiology #Echocardiography #InterventionalCardiology #ClinicalCardiology #NuclearCardiology #AcuteCoronarySyndromes #ArrhythmiaEP #CVImaging #CVDPrevention #CardiacArrhythmias #Peertechz #PeertechzPublications #OpenAccess #ScientificJournals #PeerReviewedJournals #OpenAccessPublishers #CardiacPhysiology #CardiacRegeneration #CardiacRehabilitation #Cardiomyopathies #CardiovascularDrugs #CardiovascularTherapy #CardiovascularAnatomy #CongenitalHeartDefects

🚨 Explore this clinical consensus paper on cardiac emergiencies in women, co-authored by our group leader Sigrun Halvorsen ✅ Despite equal treatment recommendations, women often receive less evidence-based care than men. ✅ Conditions like spontaneous coronary dissection, takotsubo cardiomyopathy, and peripartum cardiomyopathy demand specialized diagnosis and management. Gain valuable insights on improving cardiac emergency management for women and discover the gaps in evidence. 📖 Read the full paper here: https://lnkd.in/ePDSnx2p Oslo University Hospital Universitetet i Oslo Oslo Center for Clinical Heart Research European Heart Journal European Society of Cardiology #CardiacHealth #WomensHealth #ClinicalInsights #MedicalResearch #GenderEquity #kvinnehelse #Cardiology

Our Comprehensive Review Article exploring the Cardiac Autonomic Plexus Neuromodulation for Acute Decompensated Heart Failure is published in Current Problems in Cardiology 🫀 This review essentially summarizes the recent research available on the positive inotropic techniques used to manage heart failure patients. 📄 We extensively discussed the parameters of Cardiac Plexus Neurostimulation (CPNS) technique which is being explored in on-going trials. We presented the proposed protocol of CPNS technique along with discussion of other trials to validate our narrative. 🎓 The insights from NECTAR-HF trial, ANTHEM-HF trial and INNOVATE-HF trial brought to light important considerations while drafting future protocols of original studies to explore such neuromodulation techniques in heart failure patients.
