Seventeen Years

Yeesh, y’all, just reading the title of this blog post makes me cringe a little because – HOW AM I OLD ENOUGH TO HAVE BEEN MARRIED FOR SEVENTEEN YEARS?!

Wow.

Our wedding day sometimes feels like it was just yesterday, and other times, it feels like I’ve lived five lives since then.

In the last seventeen years, we’ve been through a lot, both good and bad – selling a house, moving into an apartment, building a house, moving into said built house, bringing a sweet pup into the family, losing our first baby, being overjoyed at the births of our two healthy babies, surviving a pandemic, and navigating health issues mostly for me LOL – massive pelvic/nerve damage from childbirth (me), anxiety and panic attacks complete with a hospital stay (me), a breast cancer scare (also me), a year-and-a-half-long ongoing struggle with vertigo and dizziness (it’s me, hi), and a back surgery (Brian).

We’ve had loads of fun traveling all over the country – Vegas numerous times, California, Washington DC, New York City numerous times, and Chicago to name a few.  We’ve been to, probably, a hundred concerts.  We’ve cried at hospital beds of both of our kiddos when they were sick.  We’ve had super fun times with friends.  We’ve lost loved ones.  We’ve perfected the art of tag-teaming for household and child duties, and the list goes on…

And here we are, seventeen years later!!

Life is such a roller coaster, and I’m happy to have you strapped in by my side, B!  Thank you so much for all you do for me, and for our little family.

I love you!

Here’s to 17x17 more!  What?!

Sixteen Years

I’m interrupting my Five on Friday posts to say HAPPY SIXTEEN YEARS to Brian today!!

I’m a bad wife, and I left to go on my girls’ trip with my Momma, my aunt, and my cousin yesterday, so I’m not going to be home to celebrate my anniversary with B for the first time ever, but this was the only weekend that worked for everyone, so we just decided to roll with it.

So, a HUGE thanks is in order to Brian for holding down the fort back at home while I’m off gallivanting with my girls and doing all of the Christmasy things in New York City.  And thank you for being so understanding with me ditching you this weekend since it was the only weekend that everyone else could go.  ;o)

I love you very much and I appreciate everything you do for me and for the kids.  I can’t wait to celebrate with you when I get home.

Have fun with the kids this weekend!

GO DAWGS!

And don’t forget to move the elf while I’m gone.  ;o)

20 Year Dating Anniversary

Y’all!  Today marks TWENTY years since Brian and I started dating.  Twenty.  2-0.  Two whole decades.  And I’m honestly not sure how that’s possible since I’m only 25.  ;o)

We don’t typically celebrate our dating anniversary since we have a wedding anniversary, but I thought that 20 years was definitely worth mentioning here on the blog because that is a very, very long time.

We have been through so much together in the last 20 years – we celebrated my graduation from college and the start of my corporate career, we got engaged, we got married, we had the worst honeymoon of all-time, we lived in three different homes, we built a house, we went through three pregnancies, we lost one baby and we welcomed two healthy babies, we raised one precious little dog baby, we survived me quitting my corporate job after 13 years to become a stay-at-home-mom, we buried four of our grandparents, we welcomed to the world five nieces and nephews (in addition to the two who were born before we started dating), we celebrated 15 wedding anniversaries, we traveled to lots of fun places, we attended countless concerts, and we made it through one pandemic.

We have experienced super high highs and super low lows and it’s been quite a ride.

In honor of 20 years, I thought it would be fun to share our relationship in pictures… most of these have never been shared on the blog, so please enjoy seeing what we looked like back in 2003 when I was just 21 and Brian was just 25.  ;o)
