Easter garland

Only two more weeks until my favorite holiday of the year!

I love everything about Easter.

The reason we celebrate it, the easter egg hunt, the bunnies and lambs and chickens and eggs, the food, and the excitement about the arrival of spring (personally, I am trying to get some enthusiasm going for the arrival of autumn,
but somehow the spring fever is still with me).

This morning I had a serious talk with the chickens and they agreed (I think) to have a go at laying some eggs in the foreseeable future, which will then be fussed over and painted and boiled and beautified.

But today (for a change) we have a project involving bunnies.

Here is my new Easter garland:

If you would like to make one of your own, you will need:

Print-out of bunnies (or chickens, eggs, lambs, flowers....)
string (I would have loved to use baker's twine but didn't have any, so I just used ordinary string)
little metal rings (we still had lots left over from my daughter's various earring projects, they are not compulsary, but they make it easier for the rabbits to hang straight)

I printed the bunnies on thin cardboard paper:

Cut them out, use a needle to make a hole and put the little ring through. Then pull your string through the ring and make a knot to keep the bunny in place:

Hang up and enjoy:

Lots of love,

Easter plates

Since the space bunny's visit I have become quite fond of bunnies, and seeing that my hens still haven't laid
any eggs this is another egg-less Easter project.

I saw something similar years ago in a Dutch magazine. It was probably 'Woonidee' since that is the only one
I recall reading.
Once again it is simple and pretty quick.

You will need:

Plates, best with some patterns on
Spray paint
Adhesive paper

Print or trace any shape you like on the adhesive paper and cut it out:

Glue it onto your plates, pressing it down firmly:

Spraypaint your plates. I only used one layer of paint to have the pattern shining through:

Once the paint is dry, peel of your adhesive paper:

I used the cut-out of the bunny to spray a silver bunny on the last plate:

Enjoy your Easter plates :-)

Space Bunny

My daughter is on holiday and spends her days playing with her friends, and the only thing that is required of me is to provide food on a regular basis. So I have much more time to potter about, do silly little things and meet silly little creatures.

One of these creatures is space bunny. He came to visit from down the rabbit hole, and isn't quite sure yet if he wants to leave the safety of his space craft. I assured him that it is fine to hang around for a bit and observe our strange customs.

It is kind of eerie being watched by him all the time, but I guess I will either get used to it or he will loose interest and take
off again. In case he comes to visit you, here is what he looks like:

Ps: He assured me that he has nothing whatsoever to do with Easter, and certainly will not bring chocolates, eggs or other silly things.

Lots of love,

Spring wreath

All the beautiful flowers I collected last week have died. But my thirst for color and beauty and spring is still there,
so I decided to find something a bit more permanent.

This little DIY comes with a warning: For once I didn't find it easy to do but rather awkward and difficult.
At least for those of us that are not blessed with a lot of patience...

It might be easier if you use hazelnut sticks or something else a bit more pliable. The sticks I had were very hard
to bend and often snapped instead of making a nice round form.

If you use brown sticks, using a green florist wire is also a much better idea than the silver one I had (again, being
too impatient to first go shopping).

Seeing how close I was several times to just throw it in the bin it actually turned out nice.

A little bit of spring in autumn :-)

There isn't much to explain. Bend your long brown sticks into a wreath and fix with the wire (or buy a ready-made wreath
and safe yourself the aggravation).
I planned to glue the flowers on, but they actually all had little wires and so I could just fix them onto the brown sticks.

It took a while to find a place for it too. After it fell off the door for the third time I decided to put it somewhere else, spoiling
the puppies fun in the process. She loved diving onto the wreath every time it came flying.

It fell off here too. My walls are made of cow dung and clay and nails do not really hold.

Final (for now) spot for it:

Wishing you a day filled with sunshine, flowers, joy and gratitude!
