storage bin or play bin?

My parents gave me this cool little patio storage thingy for my birthday!

It pretty much matches all our patio furniture, and it's just the right size for crazy kiddos.

and dogs too!

hahahahahahahahaha!

Look, Layla and Daisy have the same facial expression. :-)

Jungle Book at the Cliftex

Saturday evening the kids and I had a date with my Aunt to see a movie.
We went to the movie in my hometown of Clifton.

This wasn't just any theatre, it was my childhood movie theatre!

I can't count the number of movies I saw at this tiny little place.  It wasn't so tiny when I was little.  The road seemed smaller too after the movie when we walked out into the dark evening.  It's so funny how when you're a kid things seem larger than life!

I just love downtown Clifton.  I think big things are happening in that quaint little town.  It is a happening place and I'm so happy to be living close by again so I can visit and see all the growth.

The kids had to stand and pose by this mural.

Layla made sure to point out that it says, "Life is short, break the rules."

Hayden Cole is crazy.  He has a style of his own with the camo shorts and plaid shirt.  Goodness gracious, I just didn't want to break his heart with all the pattens he is sporting, so I didn't.  I just let him be him with the bright orange monkey around his neck.  The both wanted to take stuffed animals with a jungle theme to the movie.  I told them it was fine with me, but I wouldn't be putting those fluffy critters in my purse.  I've had many random things in my purse in my momma years!

Layla was very shocked by the fact that there was only one movie showing in one theatre.  There was not a list of movies to chose from.  There wasn't a 7:00 showing and a 9:00 showing.  They liked it and they can't wait to go back for movies this summer!

The Jungle Book was a great movie. Go see it!!!  We all enjoyed it way more than we thought we would.  I remember seeing the animated version while babysitting when I was a kid. It was such a cute movie and the non animated version was perfectly done! It was great for us animal lovers.  The movie started at 7:00 and promptly at 8:00 the screen went dark and people started getting out of their seats.  Layla looked at me with confused eyes and wondered what in the world was going on.  She also commented about what a 'clifhanger' that was.  Hahaha! She said she hoped there was a second movie. We all busted out laughing.  It was intermission time.  What theatre still has a 5 minute break?  It was awesome and such a fun and educational night in Clifton Texas!

Friday Funday

It's Friday and that means the last day of school before Thanksgiving break.  Wooohooo!  Another break y'all.  Georgia loves to take school breaks!

The pups are getting groomed and momma is cleaning the house.  Yay for Friday!

movie time!

The kids didn't have school today, so last night we went to Movie Tavern to see Goosebumps.

Guess who got scared and left the movie right in the middle??  Not me, but I took the scared rabbit to the lobby where we sat at the bar and had a cup of ice water.  Good grief, and then HE put the movie on his Christmas list and wants to see the rest of the show.  I have to admit a garden gnome invasion was a little creepy y'all!  And that's all I'll say about the movie.

We were shopping and these two sillies were touching the candy at the checkout line.  Why do kids insist on touching stuff all the time?  Ages 10 and 7 and still grabbing candy from the huge assortment on the checkout line shelves. And you think they had outgrown that...NOT! ;-)

They have bags of Halloween candy and they still insist on asking for us to buy them more candy. Lordy Lordy.  Of course I used this as a time to snap a few pictures of these silly faces!

Go bears!

We love Saturday's because of college football!  We always try to think of fun football foods and snacks.

Go Baylor!

We love our silly selfie stick.  The kids get all irritated with me begging them to get ready for a photo.  Times have changed though, from the days of setting up my Canon camera timer.  Now we have the selfie stick.  What will be the next fun way to snag family photos?

I just love these girls!

These two kiddos have so much fun together, but then they fight together.  Fall break is over on Monday and back to school they go!  Golly gee, the break went fast.

I'm ready to get back into the school routine!  Fall is upon us and it's a wonderful time of the year!

goofing around in Lowe's

What?  You don't go to Lowe's and pose in the isles?  These two are my favorite!

caterpillars are taking over!

The kids are loving the millions of caterpillars in our yard right now.

You'll look down and one will be on your shoe, or on your shirt.  At first I freaked out, but then I realized they are sweet little soon to be butterflies!  See the one on Hayden's shoulder, and the two on the bicycle brake cord?

They are every where and the kids even put a few in their bug catchers they got for Easter.  It would be so fun if we actually got to see one turn into a butterfly!!  I'll keep ya posted!

back to school

I have enjoyed having the kids home from school for the winter break.  We have been very busy playing with friends and playing with all the fun things they got for Christmas.

Monday was a teacher work day and Tuesday was a 'cold' day, so there wasn't school either day.

The kids are in their pj's this morning due to a 2 hour school delay.  They are headed back to school in a few hours and I think they are excited to see their buddies and get back into a routine.

I know I'm ready for routine.  Bring on 2014, I feel like it is just beginning!

a movie and the mall

Spring break is supposed to be all fun and exciting, but I'm feeling grumpy. The snow is putting a damper in our week and I am feeling like negative Nelly.  Gary took off work so we are making the best of our time together as a family.  We haven't ventured too far away from home yet.  We weren't sure if the roads would be nasty.  But we are still having fun dang it!

The weather makes me wanna eat this whole bag of Twix Eggs.  Yep...Twix eggs.

Gahhhh.  They are so good, but really the Reese's eggs are better.
I'm a sucker for peanut butter.

Monday we took the kids to a movie.  It was such a cute movie with a great message.  We all really enjoyed it.  I really enjoyed eating half a large bag of popcorn. Poor Gary he didn't know he should have gotten his own bag.  What is it with movie theater popcorn?  I can't eat a few pieces slowly.  I have to SHOVE it into my mouth as fast as possible as if someone is about to take it away from me.  I always get a popcorn head ache and I always eat the corn anyway.  What is wrong with me?  It's like you walk into a theater and breathe the air...you must eat the CORN.  ALL OF THE CORN.  See what I mean...I blame the weather for my crazyness right now.  I had to really floss after the popcorn eating contest also.  Holy moly the kernels get stuck in my teeth something awful.  Ok...TMI and now I'm changing the topic to soda.  Why do you have to drink a soda with movie theater popcorn?  Honestly I don't usually drink soda.  I mean I will use it in a mixed drink now and then, but we don't buy soda for daily consumption.  Oh my eating is bad lately, but HEY Jack...It's Spring Break.

Look at this mess of an iPhone.  We went to the mall today to have this fixed to the tune of $89.00.  OUCH!  I dropped my phone not only once, but twice.  AFTER HAYDEN DROPPED HIS iPod touch.  What is wrong with our hands that neither one of us can hold onto these pricey little devices?  His was cheaper to fix, but still.  It's like buying tires.  You have to do it even though you don't wanna.  I didn't want glass to chip off any longer.  I was leaving a glass trail.  Did I mention I had to leave my phone with them while we shopped?  I missed it so much.  I'm pathetic.

We ate lunch and then had ice cream treats.  I ordered salted caramel truffle ice cream and I almost went back for another scoop.  It was to die for.  The kids got Playdoh.  Yep.  That yellow stuff has enough dye in it to choke a chicken.  It is vanilla ice cream with multi-colored sugar cookie chunks.  It was gooooUUUood (said in my best cousin Eddie voice)!!  Gary got his favorite mint chocolate chip.

These two little heathens needed to burn off some steam.  Wow ... maybe I should have done the same thing.   We let them play at the nasty, germy mall play area, ahem I mean the fun, super cool play area.  Germs make their immune systems better right?!

There is our Spring Break Monday and Tuesday in a nutshell.  Also we are all really addicted to Candy Crush. Gary and I are bad addicted. Oh and the kids won't sleep in.  And Lily won't either.  So we have that going for us.  And now I am off to get an attitude adjustment....SEND US THE SUNSHINE!

snow day!

This morning when I woke up I had a missed call from the school.  I listened to the message, but there wasn't one.  I knew today must be a snow day, but I had to flip on the TV to be sure.

Layla was expecting a 2 hour delay, but instead we had a full blown snow day.  The snow was so pretty and white and powdery.  I swept the back stairs and the snow just flew right off the steps.  It wasn't good 'snowman' snow, but it was still awesome and fun snow!

Our street is so pretty covered in snow!

The kids sadly said goodbye to daddy as he headed off to work and we proceeded to have a pajama day!  Layla begged daddy to stay home, but the roads really weren't that bad.

I love a good snow day here and there, but my kids drove me to drink whiskey today.  They are precious and sweet, but holy moly they fight and argue like crazy.   They were full of wild energy and once when they were running in the house Hayden fell and bruised up his legs.  Layla hugged me and knocked me over in the kitchen.  It was a wild afternoon and the witching hour that used to be fierce when Layla was three and Hayden was a newborn...well that was back today.  It was wild and caused me some major scary flashbacks.

Oh don't let this picture fool you.  They look so sweet and peaceful, but they didn't sleep a wink.  They were jumping on my bed just a few seconds prior to me taking this picture.  I wouldn't trade these wild monkeys for the world though.  I'll just have an other cocktail. haha!

We are supposed to get more snow tomorrow. Oh me oh my!  I'd love to spend another day with these kids, but I really need the mommy lunch I have planned.  So ...  let the snow fall right after I finish my lunch!

showing his personality

Hayden is a typical laid back guy in my opinion.  Yes, he has a temper and throws fits, but he has a dry personality.  When he says something it's usually funny and interesting.  Up until recently he didn't really have much to say.  I think Layla talks for him so much and since she has been in school the past three weeks I have had a lot of one on one time with my little guy.

While I was styling his hair this morning  he told me he wanted a lemonade stand at his 5th birthday party.  I laughed and said, "ok that sounds good." wondering to myself where he got that idea.  We were still in his classroom before I took him home for the day and he told me in front of his teachers about his lemonade stand idea.  He had already been discussing it with them before I arrived.  I wonder if he'll remember this in July when he turns five?!  I thought maybe he heard about a lemonade stand from a TV show, so I asked him and he said, "No momma I thought it up in my brain."

He says the funniest things and remembers them.  He still calls seagulls {that we saw on vacation in early June} 'eagle ducks.'  Bar-b-que chips are 'charcoal' chips.

On Friday we were running errands, just he and I.  He began telling me about how he had boogers. He said he pushed a breath out of his nose and he felt a bubble.  Then he popped it.  Seriously.  Gag me.  Sorry for the TMI, but this is a great example of his randomness.

Gary has been traveling so much lately.  He brings each kid a prize if they are good when he is gone.  The kids always anticipate what the prize might be.  Hayden told Layla and I he wants a steak dinner for his prize.  Haha!  That boy loves steak.  He decided he'd skip getting a toy if he could just have a steak.

Today we were leaving school, which BTW he LOVES ...  He is obsessed with school so far. Anyway, we were driving to Layla's school and he was telling me he had a new girlfriend.  I gasped out loud!  I asked him her name but he couldn't remember.  Then he said, "Mom, she is a girl and she is my friend, NOT a girl I am dating."  I think maybe he has been watching too much Austin & Aly!!  He said dating...oh my!

Hayden's love for his sister is amazing.  They are great friends and I'm so thankful.  They do have their moments and scrappy fights, but mostly they play great together.  He will be a wonderful husband someday because he is constantly getting bossed around by his big sister.

Hayden loves having his hair styled, but loves wearing a cap.  Every morning when we style he hair he asks us for Monster truck hair, motorcycle rider hair, or whatever he's obsessed with that day.  He wants his hair to feel that way!  Motorcycle and monster truck hair is really spiky you know?!

Hayden is loving the Wii.  He is finally at the age where he is getting really good at it.  He gets frustrated and cries if he loses, but I have to talk him off the ledge and he plays again!  heehee!  DRAMA!

He loves his friends and doesn't mind telling them he loves them.  It truly is the cutest thing.
I just LOVE his little heart and I'm so proud to be his Momma!
