Toy Fair 2019: McFarlane Doubles Down on Fortnite
Love it or hate it, Fortnite is a massive video game phenomenon changing the way companies approach their own game's distribution and promotion. Collectibles have always celebrated our favorite video games, so it was no surprise when not one but THREE companies pounced on the Fortnite action figure license. McFarlane grabbed the 7 inch license, breaking away from their usual statue-like design in favor of a fully posable action figure fans seem to love, as we've noted by the empty toy store shelves since the release of series 1! Now McFarlane show they are all in by showing off the next waves of figures, some killer accessories... and a vehicle!

Toy Fair 2014: Funko's Official Game of Thrones Legacy Action Figure Reveal
How do you follow up the advance sale of a magnificent action figure series no one expected to be on shelves before we would even see a shadowy teaser image? Apparently, you drop the news on a forum and not tell anyone. Lucky for us, we have friends who send little messages all day long, alerting us to such things, like tiny Marvel Comics T shirt wearing cherubs. ...Now there's an image you won't soon forget. AH! And as I'm writing my snarky remarks, Funko has dropped the official release, so we've got details aplenty.
Funko is excited to announce a new line of highly articulated action figures celebrating some of pop culture’s biggest franchises. The hit HBO® series Game of Thrones® will be the first license released in the Legacy Collection, which is currently available exclusively in Barnes & Noble stores nationwide in time for the Game of Thrones: The Complete Third Season DVD release on February 18. It will follow at additional retail partners on March 4.

Toy Fair 2014: Barbie and her BFFs
We are mere days away from the start of New York International Toy Fair 2014, but we've still got plenty of coverage to sift through from UK and Nuremberg! Mattel's Barbie line made a very brief appearance in Germany, pushing a Fashionista / Best Friends Forever theme...perhaps..simultaneously? I said her appearance was brief! Here's the little blast of information we snapped up...

Toy Fair 2014: Funko's Game of Thrones Action Figures
A couple of days back, Entertainment Earth got the exclusive reveal of Funko's extensive ReAction figure line with pop culture icons like Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Freddy Krueger, Terminator, Snake Plissken and more alongside our favorite characters who have never gotten the action figure treatment like Zoe Washburn from Firefly, Marty McFly from Back to the Future and Vincent Vega from Pulp Fiction! Basically, the internet freaked the hell out. Geek overload...everywhere. What no one asked was...what became of those whisperings of a Game of Thrones line back in November? Today, we got an answer...

Toy Fair 2014: A Quick Peek at Mezco's Living Dead Dolls
Last night, in the wee hours of the morning (I love to say wee), we gave you a quick look at a portion of Mezco's 2014 lineup, highlighting the items we'd most likely see today at their Toy Fair preview and Sons of Anarchy product line premiere. Today, it's cold, it's icy, New York is breaking apart at the seams...and Galaxia Siandre braved all that chaos to bring back some excellent images...because she loves toys too!
Later today, we'll get a more extensive look at everything on display at Mezco HQ, but for now, let's shed a little light on a reveal we set loose in our 3am info blast. Previously dubbed "That Pumpkin Guy" or quite possibly well dressed Samhain from the Ghostbusters cartoon, we now know that the Living Dead Doll in question was none other than THE HEADLESS HORSEMAN!!! dun dun dun duuuun.

Toy Fair 2014: LEGO Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Movie Sets Reveal Details
The big winner for "most leaks before New York Toy Fair" this year is the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2014 movie, hands down. We pitched our Turtle movie design descriptions at you after some retailers in parts unknown got a look. Then we got a peek at a horrible Rubie's Halloween costume that must have been received so badly, it was followed by some "official unofficial" leaks in an order which could only be seen as "official unofficial". We saw an intentionally small image showing the Turtles looking much like Turtles. The world breathed a sigh of relief as our report now had a visual to back it up. Then came a larger, far clearer image of Donatello, showing his thinner, techy look for the film. The world seemed to appreciate the differences. Last, we got a couple of angles on Shredder, who we mentioned had blades...EVERYWHERE..but still insisted on rocking a sleeveless outfit. That one went down...pretty much like we expected. The giant sized Meh was heard around the world. It wasn't until a banner popped up showing the Turtles with lips that the hate really began to spew onto the interwebs. We agree..lips on Turtles are silly...but not as silly as lips on giant robots. I'm looking at you movie Optimus Prime. Annnd that takes us to now, with UK Toy Fair in the bag and Nuremberg Toy Fair just having ended and once again, we look to our hero Thorsten for a report of that which we could not see...

Toy Fair 2014: Bandai's Godzilla Toys Taking Shape
As we dive head long into Toy Fair 2014, the name of the game is "cover as much ground as you can, beg to shoot everything and be happy with what you get." This goes double for Toy Fairs not held in the U.S., as most companies are saving their prime reveals for New York (2 weeks!) and other companies are under the watchful eye of their various licensors who dictate what merchandise they can show from the year's most anticipated films. Sometimes...we get one piece as a promise of more awesome to come. This method is quite effective. Sometimes, we get nothing, but are allowed to see what little the company has brought for buyers to place orders on, and when that is the situation, I count on my reporters to describe every little detail they can squeeze out of their over stimulated minds. I mean..it's TOY FAIR! I only send people who love toys to Toy Fair..and that being the case, I can only hope these fine folks remember their names and deliver clear pictures at day's end.

Toy Fair 2014 News List
Book mark THIS PAGE for an easy-to-follow list of all our Toy Fair 2014 coverage!
Notes for the non-toy freaks: Toy Fair is a series of global events for toy retailers, manufacturers, industry professionals and the press. These events are closed to the public. Most of what you see here will be new items releasing now, coming soon or awaiting a distributor to import it to your area. I'd say a good 80% of what you'll see can be ordered at your local comic shop through the Previews catalog or from your favorite toy retailer online.

Toy Fair 2014: Hex Bug Battles, Climbs the Walls & Gets Zombified
It's often hard to tell which direction the toy industry will go. Last year saw the "dumbing down" of several action figure lines in favor of a marginally lower price point and a company most known for robotics trying their hand at princess dolls. Amid all these shifts, our universal constant will always be Hex Bug! This crew seems to sit around all day thinking of new ways you can play with micro-robotics on a level that won't decimate a parent's budget. Here's this year's UK Toy Fair showing...
