Netflix Showcases AnimeJapan 2025 Highlights

Netflix, the world's largest video streaming service specializing in entertainment, held a Netflix Special Stage on Saturday, March 22nd at the AJ Stage of AnimeJapan 2025, the world's largest anime festival. On stage were Chiaki Kobayashi (voice of Mash from Mashle and Stark from Funeral of Frieren) from Moonrise , Chikahiro Kobayashi (voice of Saichi Sugimoto from Golden Kamuy and Shion from Hell's Paradise) and the "star" Legoshi from BEASTARS Final Season , Yu Kobayashi (voice of Sasha from Attack on Titan and Ayame Sarutobi from Gintama) from Arcane, and My Melody (favorite food: almond pound cake) from My Melody & Kuromi . The super-luxurious voice actors representing 25 years of Netflix anime gathered together to passionately talk about the appeal and behind-the-scenes stories of the works. Also on stage, a special video showing the lineup of impressive anime works that will be distributed on Netflix in 2025, including "SAKAMOTO DAYS," "Fire Force Season 3," "Blue Box," the movie "Detective Conan: Submarine of Steel," "Leviathan," "Mobile Suit Gundam: Requiem of the Revenge," "Baban Baban Baban Vampire," and more, was unveiled, along with hero art. Anime has now established itself as a popular genre on Netflix, watched by over 100 million households a year, and the momentum is showing no signs of slowing this year either!

For those of you craving 80s nostalgia, Polyphony debuted its initial wave of blind box Garbage Pail Kids vinyl collectibles at the New York Toy Fair. For the first series, collectors will have a chance of opening one of seven delightfully disgusting mystery figures including GPK mascot Adam Bomb, bubblegum popping Joe Blow, the self-inflicting siamese twins Double Heather, fire starter Fryin’ Ryan, along with Sheepish Seth, Smelly Sally, and Pete Seat. Expect to see these figures on shelves later this year. No word on whether each figure will come with its own trading card - a mystery as juicy as a pack of 1985 gum!

First-Look Image of the Upcoming Live-Action Masters of the Universe Film

Amazon MGM Studios and Mattel, Inc. (NASDAQ: MAT) today released a first-look image of Nicholas Galitzine as He-Man/Prince Adam in the upcoming live-action feature film Masters of the Universe, based on the iconic Mattel franchise. Masters of the Universe is currently in production.

Toy Fair 2025: Mattel Welcomes Back DC Comics

Mattel, Inc. (NASDAQ: MAT) and Warner Bros. Discovery Global Consumer Products today announced a global, multi-year licensing agreement utilizing DC’s entire library of beloved characters and legendary storytelling. Through the partnership, Mattel is awarded the global licensing rights to develop and market a full range of DC-themed action figures, playsets, accessories, role play products, and adult collectibles starting in the second half of 2026. The agreement spans all DC stories and characters including Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman, The Joker, Harley Quinn, and many more.
