Videos of the Week May 13th

This week's top five is deserving of two adjectives: entertaining and new. On the entertaining tip, you've got the new video for Need You where Dillon Francis is up to his usual shenanigans DJ-ing a rowdy backyard party. Then, there's the human serviette checking in with Drake and 40 in studio. No matter what you say about Nardwuar and his quirky antics, the dude can hold a pose!

On the music side of things, you had two up and comers continuing to make a name for themselves. When Desiigner wasn't picking fights with Bieber this week, he was continuing to get love from Kanye and releasing a video for his latest buzz track Panda. By now you should understand my love for all that is Gallant, so his performance on Fallon should be the least surprising aspect of this week's top five. Rounding out this week was Timbaland protege, Tink, who did he best to show off her skills on Gorgon City's new one. Didn't ever imagine Gorgon going that Hip Hop, but I dig the vibe on their new single...#ImpairedVision

Dillon Francis Had a NGHTMRE and Needs You

Just when you thought Dillon Francis was taking a quick break from releasing music, he comes back with full force, Moombahtoning his way back into our hearts. Most noteworthy about his latest creation is the inclusion of Mad Decent's uber talented, rising star NGHTMRE. If there's one thing both producers share, it's the ability to pack every conceivable ounce of energy into each track. After a few listens to Need You, the wobbly, tribal rhythms are what stuck with me. The vocal sample adds intrigue and the hint of reggae will encourage you to keep listening. I'm chalking it up as another successful EDM collaboration love baby that will make you appreciate the genes of both proud parents...#NeedYou

Trash and Luv in One Big NGHTMRE

The more new music I hear from NGHTMRE, the more I appreciate his ability to create bouncy and melodic music. His latest remix shows off a more Future Bass-y sound, flipping Tommy Trash's recent single Luv U Giv. Before I get into the remix, you need to watch the video for the original version of the track. Let's just say, Barbies are involved...

Where the original takes on more of a funky, disco feel, the remix is a lot more bass heavy and chopped up. The remix has a lot steeper, exaggerated drops, and doesn't have the "old school" sounding synths. There's a clear electronic feel to the remix rather than the steady dance/pop sound of the original. Both are great in their won rites, it just depends on if you're in the mode to dance or vibe out to some slow bass...#LuvUGiv

NGHTMRE Hits the Boost Button on Street

With Christmas just around the corner, the saying 'tis the season should now apply to being remixed. Judging by the stellar cartoony Mad Decent cover, NGHTMRE came correct with his own chopped up version of his highly acclaimed Street. When listening to the new Street VIP mix, it all makes sense. There's even some clinky jingle bells sounding samples sprinkled into the mix as that could fit somewhere under the Christmas umbrella. The drops are exaggerated, the bass is amplified, it's like hitting the boost button when listening to the original. If you're into the original and like when things get turnt up a bit, this one will be right up your alley...#NGHTMRE

Flosstradamus Wants You to Put Your Lighters Up

In the land of rowdy trap music, Flosstradamus is royalty. What I enjoy most about their brand of trap is that their sound skews toward Hip Hop with the rolling, heavy bass lines. You know what you're getting into when you press play and you better be in the mood to wild out.

Having said all that, their collaboration with up and comer NGHTMRE delivers the goods with a catchy break beat that teases you up until the chopped up, show stopping drop. The back and forth between the vocal sample and heavy bass drops make for three and a half minutes of audible chaos. For the record this along with Prison Riot are two big reasons why their new eleven song EP is well worth checking out...#LightersUp

Big, Clangy, Mad Decent Trap From NGHTMRE

I'm not always in the mood for it, but loud, raucous Trap music. You know, that special brand of electronic music that you actually turn down a bit because you feel kinda bad for the speakers. Tracks like NGHTMRE's new one STREET are what I'm referring to because they're so all over the place that all you can do is steady bounce and try to keep your eyelids from flying off. It's yet another heat rock from Mad Decent who seem to be monopolizing the Trap game. There are a lot of festival goers that have been steady refreshing the internet waiting for this one. I know how it feels to hear something live and not feel complete until it finally comes out weeks later. Don't hesitate homie, get on over to iTunes and cop this heat rock...#NGHTMRE
