"Unwrap That Candy, Baby She Got a Tootsie Roll"

Who could resist a dancing donkey piƱata? I for one cannot, which is why I so quickly gravitated toward Dillon Francis's new one Candy. With a production assist from GTA and vocal assist from Snappy Jit, there's plenty of Moombahton goodness below. I'm trying to figure out whether Snappy's chipmunk style is completely synthesized or whether that's just the way he gets down. Either way, you'll definitely yourself shakin' it and/or droppin' it to the floor with this one. Good luck wrapping your head around the randomness of the video for it below. It starts out static like a lyric video, but then finds itself in this weird half-assed not quite a real video, but not a lyric video state. Maybe he's onto something new, but good luck topping it whoever decides to copy it...#Candy

Dillon Francis Had a NGHTMRE and Needs You

Just when you thought Dillon Francis was taking a quick break from releasing music, he comes back with full force, Moombahtoning his way back into our hearts. Most noteworthy about his latest creation is the inclusion of Mad Decent's uber talented, rising star NGHTMRE. If there's one thing both producers share, it's the ability to pack every conceivable ounce of energy into each track. After a few listens to Need You, the wobbly, tribal rhythms are what stuck with me. The vocal sample adds intrigue and the hint of reggae will encourage you to keep listening. I'm chalking it up as another successful EDM collaboration love baby that will make you appreciate the genes of both proud parents...#NeedYou

"Red Lips Always Lie"

Some remixes don't require much introduction or hype, they practically force you to press play on name recognition. File this one under that categorization as Dillon Francis and Skrillex went absolutely buckwild with GTA's Red Lips. You know how we do, we like comparing things in this hood of the internet, so check the original before imbibing in the "rebirth"...

Where the original is trappy and carried by some superb horns, the remix takes more on more of a skittish, tribal vibe. On one hand you've Dillon Francis covering the boomy Moombahton angle and Skrillex chipping in an speaker rattling, robotic samples. Definitely two very different sounds when comparing the original to the remix, but that's probably why they called it a rebirth. Can't complain about that free download via Soundcloud, though. Better get at that before the magical down arrow disappears....#RedLips

Dillon Francis & Skrillex Set Fire to the Dancefloor

When Dillon Francis released the track list for his upcoming mixtape, there was one track in particular that everyone collectively circled. This week, his collaboration with Skrillex finally found its way on the internet. With a song name like Bun Up The Dance, there was an obvious expectation for some reggae flavor and it delivered. The rapid riddim, repeatable vocal samples and booty shake inducing bass make for a club favorite. With less than two weeks to go before This Mixtape is Fire drops, this one should continue the momentum that Bruk Bruk created a few weeks back...#ThisMixtapeIsFire

Dillon's New Mixtape is Pure Fire

On the heels of an extremely successful album, Dillon Francis is back at it with a new EP/mixtape. Appropriately titled This Mixtape is Fire, the EP is going to be chalked full of fresh new Moombahton. Exhibit #1 is below in the form of the boomy, speaker reverberating Bruk Bruk (I Need Your Lovin). The track is more or less synth driven rowdy tribal music. Similar to the way Major Lazer brings in reggae and dancehall samples into their music, Dillon is a pro at weaving together dramatic drops and quick drum builds. It's a shame we'll have to wait until August 14th for the EP to drop, but the good news is there are Calvin Harris and Skrillex collabos on the way...#ThisMixtapeIsFire

So Much Dillon Francis, I Can't Take It

With every passing day, I feel like I hear about a new, epic Dillon Francis collaboration. First it was the snippet with Kygo, then yesterday we all got wind of a quasi-joke, quasi-awesome Flintstones remix with Martin Garrix (below)...

Needless to say, the hype is building for Dillon's upcoming album Money Sucks, Friends Rule. A few weeks back, I dropped the ball on posting his latest single, I Can't Take It. That wasn't by design and as a result, today is a bit of a make up post. The track is another shining example of the potential of Moombahton, featuring echoing synths and bouncy bass. It's a tough task, but somehow Dillon always seems to live up to post-drop expectations...#DillonFrancis

Recess is Fun With Flux Pavilion and Skrillex

Picture Skrillex's Recess armed with drops that require a parachute. Actually, don't waste too much time doing that because all you really need to do is press play below. What Flux Pavilion did with Recess should be banned in at least 40+ states because it's that nasty.

When I first heard Skrillex's version of Recess, I appreciated it's playful sing-songiness. I can't say I was completely sold on it, but that's OK because he teamed up for four of his closest friends to stretch and pull the track a million directions. Sure, it's given I'll gravitate toward the arena filling Moombahton version, but there are a couple other comparably awesome versions put together by Milo & Otis, Valentino Khan and Ape Drums. It really is pretty awesome how many creative directions you can take a track and still have each of them be successful in making the original into new, awesome things. Whatever you do, just know that these remixes should only legally be played at high volumes...#RecessRemixes

Flux & Dillon Chop It Up

Now that the proliferation of electronic music onto the pop culture music scene is all but complete, I guess it's up and time to start diving into the sub-genres of EDM. Tonight's feature, moombahton, which is the half reggae/half house sound that Dillon Francis' continues to champion. I've personally learned from Major Lazer that reggae does in fact mix well with synthesizers (cue up Jah No Partial), but the kicker with I'm the One is the deep bass that Flux Pavilion brings to the table. It's a whole mish-mash of high and low pitches that has the potential to get a whole lotta people out of their seats. If you're a fan of moody electronic music that has the ability to take on multiple personalities within a four minute span, you'll enjoy this little burst of energy...#ImTheOne
