"Say She Wanna Do It For a Bankroll"

Remember that time Diplo released a new single featuring Bieber, then re-released the single replacing him with young up and comer Rich Chigga? Yea, I'm with you, I didn't see it coming either. But evidently when the original version disappeared from the internet, this is why...

"other artists made soundcloud take down the Justin Bieber version because they had exclusives with him, you can find it online here tho cause ¯\_(ツ)_/¯" - Diplo

Sounds like it was more of a BS formality than a conscious decision to boot Biebs off the track. Nevertheless, holy bass Batman! Bank Roll has all the quirky clicks and pops you'd expect from a Diplo track, but with a whole lot of back end to boot. At it's core, it's a hype Hip Hop track with three of the buzziest rappers out right now. I'm still in the wait and see phase with all three, but I will say Rich Chigga got my attention with Dat $tick. Don't hesitate on copping the free download and by all means flex on this one windows down this weekend...#BankRoll

"Easy Come, Easy Go, Can We Get High? And Take it Slow?"

As the Future Bass movement continues to plow forward as one of the front-line sub-genres of EDM, it's reassuring to hear tracks like Grandtheft's new one. Featuring the noteworthy vocals of Delaney Jane, Easy Go is as bouncy and melodic as you'd hope for before pressing play. It's slow, measured tempo that allows for a healthy ebb and flow between verses and plenty of contrast between the repetitive, high pitched vocal sample and the actual vocals. I especially loved how Grandtheft re-interpreted the vocal sample through instrumentation around the 1:50 mark. It's an easy track to like if you're in the mood for something to nod your head to and put yourself in a good mood. You know the drill, rent or buy if you so choose...#EasyGo

Dillon Francis Had a NGHTMRE and Needs You

Just when you thought Dillon Francis was taking a quick break from releasing music, he comes back with full force, Moombahtoning his way back into our hearts. Most noteworthy about his latest creation is the inclusion of Mad Decent's uber talented, rising star NGHTMRE. If there's one thing both producers share, it's the ability to pack every conceivable ounce of energy into each track. After a few listens to Need You, the wobbly, tribal rhythms are what stuck with me. The vocal sample adds intrigue and the hint of reggae will encourage you to keep listening. I'm chalking it up as another successful EDM collaboration love baby that will make you appreciate the genes of both proud parents...#NeedYou

"That's Why the Dog Chased the Cat...Thundercat"

Whatever happened to the Ying Yang Twins you ask? I don't have a good answer to that question, but what I can offer is their most recent Trap cameo. With Lil Jon doing a full cannon ball into Trap music, it was only a matter of time before Ying Yang joined in on the fun. It should come as no surprise that they decided to get back into the party music scene by jumping on a track by ATL duo Pyramid Scheme. They've been lighting it up of late, so much so that it earned them the coveted Mad Decent badge. You might as well slap an awesome sticker on anything that label puts out. Thundercat is no exception as it features the wobbly womp womp bass that will make you think of Far East Movement. Late nights in clubs aren't happening as much for me in my old age, but you better believe I'd lose it when the ...THUNDERCAT! part comes in. Here's to hoping Pyramid Scheme continues to recruit in all of ATL's best Hip Hop talent in future releases...#Thundercat

Jackal Goes Animal Style on the Beat

It's hump day, meaning everyone could use a pick me up to get through the rest of the week. That pick me up came in the form of Jackal's new trap banger Animal Style. There's an assumed level of awesomeness that gets associated with any Mad Decent artist and the one below does not hurt that perception one bit. On the track, the quick 30 second build gives way to a heavy, bass thumping rhythm that falls into a bouncy chord progression. If you're a fan of the big boom, boom, clap type of beats, you'll enjoy the heck out of this one...#AnimalStyle

Big, Clangy, Mad Decent Trap From NGHTMRE

I'm not always in the mood for it, but loud, raucous Trap music. You know, that special brand of electronic music that you actually turn down a bit because you feel kinda bad for the speakers. Tracks like NGHTMRE's new one STREET are what I'm referring to because they're so all over the place that all you can do is steady bounce and try to keep your eyelids from flying off. It's yet another heat rock from Mad Decent who seem to be monopolizing the Trap game. There are a lot of festival goers that have been steady refreshing the internet waiting for this one. I know how it feels to hear something live and not feel complete until it finally comes out weeks later. Don't hesitate homie, get on over to iTunes and cop this heat rock...#NGHTMRE

Trap and R&B CAN Be Mixed Tastefully

A few years ago, Lil Eddie was on a short list of R&B artists that I followed with every release. As a vocalist, he's got a soft harmony that sticks with you and his song writing credits are even more impressive than his vocal talents. In my eyes, the architects of songs who write and demo tracks don't get near the credit they deserve for a lot of the top 40 music that ends of getting played. Feel free to lump Eddie Serrano into the group of ghostwriters who are the brains behind the operation.

Needless to say when I saw one of my favorite R&B artists collaborating with an up the dutch trap trio Yellow Claw, it caused a triple take. Although R&B mixed with traptastic drops can be a little jarring at times, I feel like they pulled it off tastefully. It's always a plus to hear some decent vocals that lead up to a massive symphony of bass and high pitched synths. Never Die plus the Waka Flocka featured Techno are both on Yellow Claw's most recent Amsterdam Trap Music Vol 2 if you're in the mood for a larger dose. The key takeaway is that when you see the Mad Decent tag, you know it's about to be a party...#MadDecent

Mad Decent Keeps it 100

When you break out the cover art with monster trucks, you better bring the heat. That's exactly what Grandtheft & Keys N Krates did with Keep It 100. It's full of all sorts of trap goodness with screwed up vocals and bouncy bass to boot. Shout out to Mad Decent for not only pulling together the collabo, but also offering up the track free to download. Great music doesn't usually fall off trees, but when it comes to staying on the forefront of trap music, Mad Decent knows what's up...#KeepIt100

Avicii x Diplo You Make Me Remix

Man, it doesn't take much to get excited about Diplo remixing an Avicii track. After a few listens, I'm all about the trap twist that the Mad Decent leader imparted on the original version. It's more than a bit wild and significantly heavier on the back end, which always adds to the excitement. Where the original was tame and radio friendly, this one caters more toward a live, in concert delivery. The only thing that could make more more excited than hearing this is getting to hear the studio quality version of Pharrell's new track with Major Lazer...#HolyShip

Merry Christmas Y'all

Here's to a wonderful holiday season for you and yours. To commemorate the holiday season, Mad Decent put together a 27 min mix of electronic dance flavored Christmas favorites. If you're like me, you would really appreciate a new take on the same old hits that everyone plays year after year. Give it a listen if you're in the mood for a little different, but above all else, I hope you shared a relaxing day with the ones closest to you...#MerryChristmas

Videos of the Week May 3rd

Takinig a trip back to funny this week with the hilarious Dove Real Beauty parody done by AdHocVids. If you haven't seen the original Dove Real Beauty commercial, you should watch that one first to gain an appreciation for the humor. #Balls humor aside, Chris Brown released his weekly video, Sean Kingston is getting back in the mix, summer festival promos are still in season and Jay-Z's 100$ Bill track is gaining momentum as most sought after track on the internet. The question is now becoming, is the Great Gatsby Soundtrack one of the most well constructed soundtracks since the millennium (when soundtracks used to be cool)? #GatsbySoundtrack.

Harlem Shake Gets a Makeover

Well folks, we've got ourselves a new viral video. Like anything viral, there was a unique chain of events triggering the uncontrollable reaction. The story starts when @baauer uneventfully posted his own video for Harlem Shake on YouTube on August 23rd, 2012. Sure, the track got some love from other @maddecent folks like @flosstradamus and @diplo, but nothing to write home about. Fast forward to January 29th, when @FilthyFrank posted his own silly Harlem Shake video with people dressed up in latex costumes. Then came the impersonators on February 2nd PHL_On_NAN (2 million views) and TheSunnyCoastSkate (826,000 views) that put the song on full blast.

So what's my take on this new viral sensation? My honest to god knee jerk reaction was "what in the world have white people done to a great Hip Hop dance??" In case you missed it, the Hip Hop Harlem Shake first started in 1981, but became popularized after G Dep's Let's Get It video. According to the Urban Dictionary, there are two very different definitions for the Old Harlem Shake and the New Harlem Shake (deservedly so). In fact, it should speak volumes that the Hip Hop inspired dictionary defined the new dance as:
"A new stupid dance crass on YouTube, and people just making idiots of themselves. Usely only about 30-45 seconds long, where it starts out as one person dancing and everyone not noticing. Til about half way and then everyone in the room dances and shakes usely masked to hide their shame."
Minus the ignorant spelling of usually, I tend to agree with their definition because the dance looks more like Weekend at Bernies on Molly when white folks do it. But on the bright side, pop culture needs a formal introduction to Trap music, so who better to dish that out than @Baauer? Do the man a solid and support him at either iTunes or Beatport. Oh and for a sample of the madness below, check out the Top 10 recent Harlem Shake videos or feel free and sample below...#HarlemShake

"My Feet on the Ground, My Head in the Clouds"

Sticking with the different music theme of this week, I've got a new one for you from @diplo. Up to this point, no one had heard of @JAHANLENNON, but people on the east coast may know him as the lead singer Zeb from the Philly punk band Po Po. Either way it would appear that they're both together under the Mad Decent umbrella, so a collabo shouldn't be a surprise. Visuals below...

Pretty cool tripped out Beatles feel with Diplo chipping in plenty of percussion, acoustic guitar and woodwinds to make it interesting. Throwback as hell, all around from top to bottom. Feel free to zone the hell out to this one...#GetLifted
