MADE WITH LOVE YOU"RE AS SWEET AS CUPCAKES LAYOUT | with Lisa

Are you the kind of person that loves inviting friends over and preparing food and spending amazing moments together? I definitely am and this week I'm sharing a layout using one of the photos I took on such a night. The Made with Love collection was perfect to document this cute photo...

For this layout, I first chose the five patterned papers I wanted to use for my strips. I kind of created this rainbow look, going from yellow to red... (yeah... like I said... kind of... no really though :) To have this messy look, I ripped the paper, instead of cutting it. I love it when you can see the white ripped borders. So when I was done adhering the strips, I went back and folded over the edges to create texture and dimension.

I matted my photo on four different pieces of patterned paper from the 6x6 paper pad and adhered it to the layout using foam tape. For the decoration, I wanted icons that went with the cupcake theme, since I wanted to use the word "cupcakes" in my title. I chose ingredients and utensils that were cupcake-making related, from the Odds & Ends. To make the white borders a bit smaller, I trimmed them off a bit and then distressed the edges.

I started placing the embellishments on the layout and when I was happy with the result, I adhered them using small foam dots. Then I went and chose some Doodle Pops, jewels and enamel shapes to add. I loooove the the teeny tiny jimmies and Hershey's kisses and the cracked egg... so cuuute! :)  As you can see on the photos, the layout has a lot of dimension, which I really love!

For my title, I wanted to use "cupcakes" as main word so I wrote the word on a patterned paper and cut it out, adhered it to white paper and cut it out again. I love that outlined look. For the rest of the title, I chose letters from the Abigail, Sunshine and Alphabet Soup alphas. Love having a big range of different fonts and colors to choose from for my titles. See you soon scrappy peeps...!

HELLO AGAIN YOU MAKE ME SMILE LAYOUT | with Tya

Well - Hello ...again! LOL! My name is Tya Smith and I am so thrilled to be working with Doodlebug once again! I am so excited to jump right in with my first project using the simply adorable "Hello Again" collection! I loved the first "Hello" collection so much and fell instantly in love with this latest collection. I was so excited to use some fresh, new patterns and colors and all that gold foil is so beautiful!

I thought it would be fun to create a layout to highlight a wonderful night out with some fantastic food and friends! Any time I am with these two ladies, I can't help but laugh and smile all night! Hi Cynthea and Tonya!

To create this layout, I started with a white cardstock background and add a few paint splatters in the top and bottom corners of the paper. I love using a little bit of mixed media to add interest to my layouts. I also base my layout on a sketch from the super-talented Allison Davis - love her work!

I started to create this layout by grabbing the 6x6 paper pad and chose 8 of my favorite papers. I cut them to 5 inches x 5 inches. I then cut these squares right in half with my trimmer. I added some hand stitching on the solid papers for some added texture and to make the papers stand out a little bit. I then added these papers to the center of the cardstock base. I typed up my journaling on white cardstock strips and glued them to this section of the layout.

Next up, is the fun part! Using all the embellishments! I added some floral clusters and tiny gold foil flowers from the Bits and Pieces. Then I added 2 butterflies to the flowers with some foam tape and folded up the wings for some interest. The butterflies are from the Odds& Ends.

I was so excited to see these awesome new gold foiled Sprinkles as part of this collection so I added them to the floral clusters. I had to add a cute rainbow from the Odds & Ends to the top edge of one of my photos. Then I finished decorating with some Hearts from the Puffy Icons. It's so fun to add all these different types and textures of embellishments to make my clusters really stand out! And let's be honest, nobody does embellishments better than Doodlebug!

I added the "You Make Me Smile" die cut from the Chit Chat ephemera to use as my title and because this girl can't get enough of gold - I added a strip of gold scallop washi tape under the title. I also added the " The best time ever" speech bubble to the right side of my photo.
Thank you for stopping by the blog today! I hope this layout inspires you to record some of your favorite memories of those people in your life that make YOU smile! Happy Crafting friends!

PETITE PRINTS STAY CLOSE LAYOUT | with Lisa

I just love a cute basic patterned paper and I love it even more, having this paper in a TON of beautiful colors. We got the new Petite prints in 12x12 and 6x6 and I have to say... JUST BEAUTIFUL!! I was very excited to use them for this layout. I chose the Pistachio Candy Stripe-Sprinkles paper for my background as this color was just too pretty to use in small amounts... :)

I went through all of the colors of the Doodlebug rainbow, chose one Petite Print for each,  and cut out a heart from each.  I distressed all of them with my scissors.  I placed the hearts on my paper and chose a fun way to display them. Some of them are overlapping, which gives it even more interest. I adhered the hearts using liquid glue and foam tape.

I matted the photo on a piece of  lily white Petite Prints, distressed the edges and added it to the layout.

I wanted my title to be super colorful and whimsical. I grabbed all of my Doodlebug alpha stickers and used letters from all the different styles.

Next I added some little nests of colored thread behind some of the hearts. I like how it adds  more color.  I wanted to add a little more to the layout , so I trimmed the Pistachio Sprinkles paper on each side (around 1/2 inch) and then adhered it to the Lily White Sprinkles paper.  I distressed the edges, bent them up slightly and added a doodled border all around.

I also drew borders on all of the hearts.  To complete I added some Puffy Shaped Heart Stickers and Mini Jewels.  I LOOOOOVE all of the pretty colors on this layout.  Go get yourself some fun new Petite Prints,  I'm sure you desperately need those in your stash...:)   See you soon,
