The Incredibles: D23 Expo 2022 Exclusive Frozone Funko Soda Vinyl Figure

My D23 Expo haul continues! Today I'm sharing the D23 Expo 2022 exclusive Funko Soda Frozone vinyl figure—inspired by The Incredibles, of course— that I picked up at the Funko booth while attending the convention a couple weeks back. Unfortunately I didn't get the limited edition chase (which includes some ice coming out of his hand), but regardless, I was happy to snag this common one before they sold out there.

And good news! Funko also released this online, so if you couldn't make it to this year's expo, no worries. And double good news, it's still in stock as of this write-up! You can purchase it on the official Funko Shop website HERE for $15.

What do you think!? Did you get this figure as well? Were you one of the lucky ones to get the chase? Let me know down in the comments! And be sure to stay tuned right here for more blog posts and video reviews coming real soon.

For anyone interested, check out my YouTube SHORT video unboxing of this Funko Soda HERE.

The Incredibles "Glory Days Suit" Mr. Incredible—Mattel's Pixar 7" Scale Action Figure Collection

Welcome back to the blog! Today I'm taking a look at the brand new The Incredibles "Glory Days Suit" Mr. Incredible, as part of Mattel's ever-expanding 7" scale line of Pixar action figures! So far this one has only been released on Amazon in Amazon's exclusive closed-box style packaging, but I'm sure it will get an in-store release at Target in the near future on the standard open-blister style cardback. I'll update this post when that happens.

I'm so happy this figure finally got released and it looks so, so cool—certainly doesn't disappoint! I saw the reveal of this one clear back in January/February this year and have been looking forward to it ever since. Of course as usual with these types of character variants, this Mr. Incredible uses the exact same mold/sculpt as last year's red suit version. Literally the only difference with this one is the costume change. Like I typically say, my only little nitpick is I do wish Mattel could have at least changed up the facial expression and/or pose to make this one a little more unique, but it's not a huge biggie. I totally understand that it's a cost saving thing and it still totally works.

And here he is out of the box in all his GLORY! Once again, the figure is solid (stands really well on his own which is great for both play and us collectors who display), includes 12 points of articulation and stands right around 8" tall. Retail price on Amazon is $12.99 (direct link below).

All in all, I'm thrilled that this Mr. Incredible joins so many other The Incredibles characters in this line including: Mr. Incredible (red suit), Elastigirl, Dash, Violet, several versions of Jack-Jack, Syndrome, and Frozone (if we're counting the Interactables figures here which I am ;). I'd love to see Edna released in this scale as well!

What are your thoughts? Will you be picking this one up for you collection? If you're already a collector of Mattel's 7" scale Pixar figures, I'd say this is a must have. Let me know down in the comments!

Frozone & Mike Wazowski "Interactables" 7" Scale Talking Action Figures (from Mattel)

Hey Pixar fans and welcome back to the blog! Today I'm taking a look at couple of the Mattel Pixar "Interactables" figures that I picked up from Amazon recently—Frozone from The Incredibles and Mike Wazowski from Monsters Inc./Monsters at Work! For those who may not have heard of these before, the Pixar Interactables line is an offshoot of Mattel's basic/core Pixar 7" action figure collection. They're the same size, make and style as the basic figures, but these ones talk and, as the name suggests, even interact with each other!

Last year there were six Interactables figures released: Woody, Buzz, Jessie, Syndrome, Mr. Incredible and Frozone. While I honestly wasn't too interested in the line (mainly just because they were all figures of characters I already collected as part of the core line and they weren't too different other than the talking feature), one did catch my attention and has tempted me for quite some time: Frozone. Mattel still hasn't released Frozone as a basic/non-talking figure (and I'm not sure if they ever will), so I finally decided to just get him in this sub-line to at least have the character to go with Syndrome, Mr. Incredible and the rest of the Parr family!

What really pushed me to get these though is when I saw the brand new Mike Wazoski Interactables figure on Amazon recently. I just love that he's now wearing his Monsters Inc. hard hat AND that the figure includes some sweet accessories: an MI clip board and a scream can (well technically it's a "laugh can" from Monsters at Work, but wither way I'm a sucker for any scream can merch so this really did it for me).

As you can see on the back of the package, a Sulley Interactables figure is coming soon as well! The Amazon listing says he'll be available on June 26th.

As far as the talking feature, I counted 12 sayings for Frozone and 18 sayings for Mike Wazowski (though there could be more). Press their buttons to hear their phrases and hold down their buttons for two seconds to hear additional phrases. Stand/hold them near other Interactables figures and press their buttons and that will activate the interactive feature (the conversation goes back and forth typically three times). The conversations aren't super coherent (seems like it's more like they say a random selection of phrases to each other), but it's fun either way. I will also also note that the voices are not done by the original actors (which does take some getting use to), but they are loud and clear.

These are fantastic looking figures overall and I'm so happy I went ahead and purchased them! The sculpts are really solid and they stand really well on their own. There's some really nice articulation as well. As far as size, Frozone is just about 8" tall and is 4.5" tall. Take a closer look at them out of the packages below...

MIKE WAZOWSKI

Each Interactables figure retails for $14.99. They're mainly available on Amazon (some Nordstrom Racks have them too), so I'll link those below for your convenience. For all you Pixar collectors out there, I highly suggest picking them up (and any the other characters that were released), especially if you already collect Mattel's 7" line of action figures! These go hand in hand perfectly and fit right in.

The Incredibles: Mattel 7" Violet Parr & Fire Jack-Jack Figure 2-Pack

Last year when the continuation of Mattel's expanded Pixar 7" action figure collection was revealed at Toy Fair 2020, many fans noticed the absence of Violet Parr from The Incredibles when all the other Parr family members were present on display. The collection—and family—wouldn't be complete without her and the gap was certainly felt. Well, I'm happy to report Mattel didn't let us down and just released Violet on Amazon as a 2-Pack with fire Jack-Jack! The family is now complete (and then some with multiple versions of Jack-Jack) and they look oh so totally wicked all together ready to fight.

Mr. Incredible was released in the very first wave of Pixar 7" figures early last year (and also in THIS "Nemesis Pack" with Syndrome) and Dash with Monster Jack-Jack & Water Jack-Jack and Elastigirl with Jack-Jack were released in the second wave last fall. This brand new Violet & Fire Jack Jack figure 2-Pack seems to be a one-off and not a part of any specific wave (Syndrome is also now available individually on Amazon, just fyi; blue/retro suit Mr. Incredible is also slated to be released this year).

I do wish Violet ended up being released on the in-store open blister packaging (and not this closed box Amazon style packaging), but that's a nitpick. I'm just happy we got these characters! The figures themselves look absolutely fantastic. In my opinion, this is definitely the best action figure version of Violet to date going all the way back to 2004. Her likeness/sculpt is spot on, the paint application is great, she stands up good on her own without much finagling and she's an excellent size for both play and display. Fire Jack-Jack is an really fun bonus figure! He looks awesome is and is a really cool translucent plastic. You can never have enough versions of Jack-Jack showing all his different powers. UPDATE BELOW

And here they are out of the box ready for action!

This set was recently available on Amazon for $12.99, but is currently out of stock. It should be back soon though! Keep checking the direct link below for availability and be sure to let me know your thoughts down in the comments. Highly recommended!

UPDATE 4/26/21: Just a heads up, I did end up finding Violet (and Syndrome) on the standard open-blister style packaging at Target this week! Wanted to be sure to let you all know :)

Mattel Pixar Collection 7" Scale Posable Action Figures—WAVE 2!

The collection continues! Today I'm thrilled to finally have the time to review Mattel's second wave of Pixar 7" action figures. At the start of last year, Mattel began expanding their phenomenal Disney·Pixar 7" scale figure collection (which began in 2019 with Toy Story 4) to other Pixar films—such as Monsters Inc., The Incredibles and Wall·E in the first wave—and now adds some more Incredibles to the line as well as Coco and Brave in this second wave! Onward and Soul characters were also created in this scale last year as well.

I saw these figures in person for the first time clear back in February last year at the 2020 New York Toy Fair (exactly a year ago today actually) and I was looking forward to them even back then. So happy to finally have them in my collection! Their in-store release got delayed quite a bit (some of these are only starting to hit Target stores now), but they've been available on Amazon in this Amazon exclusive closed-box style packaging since last September. Though I prefer the in-store standard open-blister packaging, I wasn't going to wait much longer to try in find them at the store. In the end, I ended up getting all four of these from Amazon for Christmas.

In this wave there are four brand new figures (well technically eight, since several of these are multi-packs): Elastigirl & Jack-Jack from The Incredibles, Miguel & Dante from Coco, Merida from Brave and Dash with Goo Jack-Jack & Monster Jack-Jack from The Incredibles. Take a closer look down below! These retail for $12.99 on Amazon and $9.99 at Target.

ELASTIGIRL & JACK-JACK

While these aren't the most exciting or most unique characters (since there have been several Elastigirl & Jack-Jack figures over the years, even as recently as 2018 with Incredibles 2), this is the first time they've been released in Mattel's signature  7" scale. Honestly though, they're probably my favorite versions of these characters to date and feel they have the most play value in [what I consider] the perfect figure size (easy to grip, pose and display—not to mention their sculpts are spot on). And with Violet coming later this year, we'll have the whole Parr family in this line! (UPDATE: Violet is now available; full blog post HERE)

MIGUEL & DANTE

Again, not the most thrilling (since Mattel just released these characters in 2017 in a smaller, but similar, 5"/6" scale), but I really like the updated designs here and the new larger 7" scale. I would say both sculpts are improvements on the originals and I'm ultimately happy that these characters are part of this assortment. Miguel's look is especially well done—even down to his "dimple, no dimple" smile. My only slight criticism here is I feel the paint job for Miguel's skin leans a little too heavy on the orange. Dante's floppy, rubbery tongue (as it was with the original) is great!

MERIDA

Now THIS is an exciting and unique release since this is the first ever action figure of Merida from Brave ever! Sure there have been some smaller scale figures and plenty of dolls, but never anything like this. Even though Brave isn't a top-fave Pixar film for me and Merida isn't a favorite character of mine, I still love having her in this collection. She looks fantastic! Such a solid sculpt—and that hair. She's easy to stand and looks excellent holding her bow accessory. Very impressed!

DASH, GOO JACK-JACK & MONSTER JACK-JACK

Again, Incredibles figures just hit a few years ago (so I wasn't clamoring for these), but boy do these ones look fantastic. I will honestly say that I do prefer these new Mattel ones over the 2018 Jakks Pacific 4" figures for Incredibles 2. A couple of things I wanted to note: first, they call this "Goo Jack-Jack" here on the box, but I would say this is most certainly inspired by water Jack-Jack (his power as seen briefly HERE in the Auntie Edna short film). Secondly, I do wish they included Jack-Jack's mask on the monster Jack-Jack figure (as seen on the original prototype), but it's not a big issue. Jack-Jack is seen in his monster form without his mask as well, so this does work.

I really, really hope this line continues for a long time—but unfortunately it already seems to be fading. There are some exciting Toy Story characters still slated to come out this year (as well as a fun Monsters Inc. "Getting to Know Boo" gift set, Retro Suit Mr. Incredible, Violet Parr and characters from Pixar's summer 2021 film Luca), but I'm just crossing my fingers that they don't get cancelled like so many things do these days. I would love to see Mattel tackle some A Bug's Life characters again for the first time since 1998 (Flik and Hopper would be amazing to see as modern figures) and some Up characters. It would be interesting to see what Mattel could do with Finding Nemo as well! What I'd really love to see are some unique/side characters and less focus on just the main characters we've seen enough times over the years. Who would YOU like to see made?

Pick these up on Amazon using the links below and be sure to let me know your thoughts down in the comments! Stay tuned for more from my collection right here every week.

UPDATE 6/02/21- Most of these have now finally hit Target stores in the open-blister packaging!

The Incredibles: Mr. Incredible & Syndrome 7" Action Figure "Nemesis Pack" (by Mattel)

"Am I good enough NOW?! Who's super NOW?! I'm Syndrome, your nemesis and— oh brilliant."

At the start of the year, Mattel began expanding their Disney·Pixar 7" Action Figure Collection (which began in 2019 with Toy Story 4) to other Pixar films—such as Monsters Inc., The Incredibles, Wall·E, Onward and more. This The Incredibles inspired "Nemesis Pack" is the latest in the line to be released and includes an exclusive Syndrome figure!

Mr. Incredible is just a reissue of of the single pack release (no differences at all), but Syndrome is brand new and can only be found in this set. Both figures are posable and feature pretty solid articulation. Their sculpts/character likenesses are incredibly well done—just about perfection!

Note: I noticed some confusion online and wanted to clear it up. These are not the same figures as the Mr. Incredible and Syndrome figures from back in 2014. Those were by Thinkway Toys—but yes, these do look pretty similar.

Mattel's team also did a super great job on the packaging design (both front and back of the box), as usual. It's so fun, detailed and includes some clever nods for us fans! Take a closer look at the figures as well; again, SO well done.

I'm not sure if this set will also be available in-store at Target and/or Walmart, but you can pick it up online right now on either Amazon using the affiliate link below or Walmart.com HERE. Retail price is $19.97, so don't pay the current high third-party seller Amazon price. A big thank you to my friend "abusadventure" on Instagram for letting me know it was also on Walmart's website!

Be sure to share your thoughts down in the comments. Will you be picking this up for your collection? What other Pixar characters would you like to see Mattel give the 7" figure treatment to? Merida, Elastigirl, Jack-Jack, Dash and Miguel/Dante are hitting now, so look for them on Amazon and hopefully on store shelves soon. I would love to see characters from A Bug's Life, Ratatouille and Up

Mattel Pixar Collection—7" Scale Posable Action Figures!

mattel pixar action figures

Following the success of last year's 7" scale Toy Story 4 action figure collection, Mattel has just released an incredible new range of posable figures based on characters from classic Pixar films under their new "PIXAR" banner! These are in the same make, size, style and quality (and feature the same open-blister packaging) as the Toy Story 4 figures from last year that I love so much, so it's amazing to see the line continue here beyond the Toy Story films. This range extends to Onward as well and also to Soul in the upcoming months! You can read all about Mattel's new Global Licensing Agreement with Disney for Pixar Animation Studios announced last year HERE.

I was so thrilled to find these on shelves at Walmart early last month. They totally took my surprise as I had no idea they were coming! Usually I know to look out for upcoming releases like this, but somehow these figures stayed under the radar until I stumbled upon them (seemingly early before anyone else). So far the assortment includes Mike Wazowski with Boo, Sulley, Wall·E with Eve and Mr. Incredible! It was so nostalgic for me to see these characters in-store again after so many years. I haven't seen Monsters Inc. toys at the store (not counting Disney Stores/Parks) since 2001/2002!

Take a closer look at each figure below! Sulley is the biggest at 8" tall (wait till you see him in person), Mr. Incredible is about 7.5" tall, Wall·E & Eve are about 4" tall (I really like how Eve includes a stand) and Mike & Boo are about 4" tall as well. Retail price for each figure is only $9.84—which is fantastic considering the size and quality of them!

MIKE WAZOWSKI & BOO

Boo's monster costume hood can be opened up! Mike's eye can also move. All of these figures feature some really nice articulation. The character likenesses/sculpts are 10/10!

MR. INCREDIBLE

The Mattel team did an absolutely incredible job with these figures; I cannot say enough good things about them. They look SO good and strike that perfect balance of being appealing to both kids and adult collectors. They're great for play or display!

You can find this collection right now at your nearest Walmart. Hurry while they're still around! I believe there will be more characters introduced later this year, so be sure to follow me on all my social channels to stay updated. Who's your favorite? What other Pixar characters would you like to see made?? Shout out your thoughts down below and any questions you might have.

Happy collecting!

UPDATE: Mr. Incredible has now also been released in a The Incredibles 2-Pack with an exclusive Syndrome and Mike, Sulley & Boo have been released in a Monsters Inc. 4-Pack with exclusive Randall

UPDATE 2: Check out my review of Wave 2 HERE featuring Elastigirl & Jack-Jack, Miguel & Dante, Merida and Dash with Monster & Goo Jack-Jack.
