500

A quilled D, the Roman numeral for 500 made for a challenge on a Facebook group Contemporary Quilling, that I joined recently and love being a part of. We just celebrated our 500th member, so the groups is running a challenge to quill something related to a golden milestone.

We promised

On November 8 2016, my husband and half of our creative duo died and my world stopped. He was the brains and I was the hands. I don't know what to make anymore and feel sick thinking about it. This is just a distraction to get me through the day. Definitely not one of his ideas - he would have come up with something brilliant.

As macabre as it is, I am linking up to Moo Mania & More Love. Grief is the price I am paying for love. My husband loved all the Moo Mania challenges and came up with every idea.......   including this one.........     in a way...........

The Moo this fortnight is Blackbird. What a beautiful topic. I have an albino blackbird on my Moo. Z for Zero

Just discovered ABC Wednesday, a blog dedicated to sharing... anything you want, really, as long as it begins with the letter of the week. This week it's Z for Zone. Z is my favourite letter, and I made a quilled 0 in a little box. Next week begins with A again.

Pastel

This month's quilling challenge on Homyachok is Pastel Hues. All you need to do is use only pastel coloured strips; the background can be either pastel or white. Float on down see what beauty the Design Team have composed and show us your own beauty. Oh, by the way, the letters say "pastel", small print says:  "Any colour is beautiful, as long as it's black"   :)    Well, it's true!

In conjunction with its 30 year anniversary and annual conference which is on this weekend, the UK Quilling Gild set its members a challenge - quill an A for August. My 'a' expresses where we're at......   wherever it is for you, may it be great!

В связи с 30-летием и ежегодной конференцией ассоциации британских квиллистов , которая проходит в эти выходные, они предложили конкурс членам ассоциации - наквиллать букву А для месяца август. Я очень смеялась, когда узнала, что символ @ называется собака по-русски. По-английски это слово at, предлог, который переводится, как:  в, на, при, около, у, за; он выражает, где что-то/кто-то находится. Где бы вы не находились, пусть вам будет здорово!

As guest designers on Smart-artS Quilligraphy challenge, this is what my husband and I came up with.
Unfortunately, we were given very short notice to prepare a piece, so this was born within 4 hours.
My husband barracks for Dynamo Kiev, the Ukrainian soccer team and this is the logo. You can also see their Beaver mascot.
We're good, aren't we!

Как приглашённые дизайнеры на для участия в задании КАЛЛИГРАФИЯ В КВИЛЛИНГЕ на Smart-artS, вот, что мы придумали. К сожалению нам сообщили тему задания в последнюю минуту и мы были в цейтноте. Наша работа родилась за 4 часа.
Мой муж болеет за Динамо Киев и это лого клуба. А ещё на фотографии талисман команды - Бобёр.
Вот мы молодцы!

Alphabet series / Алфавитные серии

An interesting blog I just discovered, narisuem.blogspost.ru, has a wonderful project going, entitled Alphabet on cards. I'm mad about lettering. Here are my first 6 - A, B, C for part 1 of the project and D, E, F for part 2.

На интересном блоге, Нарисуем будем жить, который я только что открыла для себя, есть чудесный проект - Алфавит в открытках. Я обожаю буквы. Вот мои первые 6 - A, B, C для первой части и D, E, F для второй части.

A, B, C are quilled on ATC's. A is for Abstraction, B is for Beads & Blob and C is for Chalks.
A, B, C - это квиллиграфия (буквы из квиллинга). A = Abstraction (абстракция), B = Beads & Blob (бисер и клякса), C = Chalks (мелки).

D, E, F were inspired by illuminated letters from antiquity. These are a mix of leafing pens, gel pens, watercolour, stickers, textas, paper layers.

Старинные заглавные буквы вдохновили D, E, F. Здесь смесь металлических красок, гелевых ручек, акварели, наклеек, фломастеров, бумажных слоёв.

Извечный Вопрос / Eternal Question

Для КВИЛЛИНГ-ЗАДАНИЯ №33: ЧЕРНОЕ И БЕЛОЕ, ИНЬ И ЯН, АНГЕЛЫ И ДЕМОНЫ на Smart-artS и Рукодельного задания №5 "Черное и белое" на Creative World, мы с мужем придумали эту работу. Это цитата Воланда из "Мастер и Маргарита" М. Булгакова. Размер работы 30 см Х 30 см и вся фраза в квиллинге (квиллиграфия, как её называют).

For Quilling Challenge #33: Black & White, Yin & Yang, Angels & Demons on Smart-artS and Craft Challenge #5 "Black and White" on Creative World, my husband & I came up with this piece. This is a quote by Woland from Master & Marguerite by M. Bulgakov. For non-russian readers, it very, very roughly translates as "... where would your kindness be if evil did not exist, and how would the earth look if all shadows disappeared?" This is a brilliant, brilliant book (probably my favourite), and I seriously recommend you read it - there are good translations around.
The work is 12" square and all lettering is quilled (quilligraphy as they call it).
