Flashy and Original

That's what I thought of Polish builder Bartosz Kacprzyk latest flickr post:

Check out the rest of his stream for more contemporary spacey-ness.

Returns

Lenny Hoffman, a very prolific space builder from several years back has some new robot themed build on his flickr stream. Check 'em.

Also returning from a hiatus is smod, who had posted some cool stuff a year back or so. However he says that he's moved beyond the plastic hobby, and this post is more of a farewell:

"The little boy inside me who loves his Lego has pretty much gone so this is probably the last MOC you'll see from me in a long time. but on a brighter note I'm thinking about turning this account into a more art orientated one.. we'll see."

I look forward to seeing some of his art-related uploads in the future.

This is a Blog, and This is a Post.

In terms of MOC production, I think Fredoichi has reached the same level of productivity to the likes of Jordan Schwartz and nnenn. Fredo has often been compared to the latter for his similar style, although I think his models stand out in that he masterfully uses the textures of parts to greeble-out his creations while nnenn experiments more with overall form. They're alike and different at the same time, and while nnenn's designs were innitially more impressive, there's nothing to hate about the newer builder's stuff.

As of late Fredo's been the man to see when it comes to small mecha. Check out his site.

On the Flickr Scene:

V & A Steamworks brings us the second in a series of fish-inspired mechanical creatures, each incorporating those fugly KK2 shields. That said Guy beautifully integrates said pieces in his models.

Lord Dane brings us a great hardsuit, I dig the leg detail and toilet-bowl shaped body.

Mike Psiaki finishes a WIP of his, it's come a long way since we saw it last a month and a half ago. Notice how Mike moves away from the prefab canopy, the final result looks much more realistic. His photography is a success as well.

Aliens roundup

It all started when Geoff Herndon built this awesome Alien. then Kevin Fedde built a Power Loader to go with it. The two MOCs certainly look awesome together. The only problem with that is, of course, that the Alien isn't a queen. Wait, I spoke too soon.

Last but certainly not least, in an unrelated incident, "2x4" built a pretty slick Sulaco.

You can Find Good Stuff on MOCpages

...If you know where to look:

Not quite bionicle, this guy integrates a lot of standard technic as well as some system. The result is absolutely fantastic, very mechanical but somehow alive and natural. The gears add a cool artistic flair and the photography, though it may seem whack at first, actually compliments the edgy feel of the model.

Strange new worlds need strange new robots

I don't know what was going through Spacie's head when he designed that, but the doctors say that he will continue to live a normal life.

Two Posts IN THE SAME DAY!

YSAB, inconsistent as ever.

This is my favorite of all the 'bots that Shannon Ocean has been doing over the past months. I like to call them "Shanbots"

Check it dood.

Luck be a Lady

A lady bug that is. Flickrite McZargåld has built the cutest little battle bug you'll ever see. Here it is on Flickr

[insert witty title]

Here I am, after a month-long blogging hiatus.

And here is Rong Yiren's latest robot in his wonderfully fresh style:

This is the best use of X-pod lids I think I've ever seen. The wheels are far from ordinary as well. Check it.

Hope It Gives You Hell

"Truth be told I miss you, and truth be told I'm lying"

I have a strange addiction to that song.

Anywho. have sum aygoes.

School is over, you'd think I'd have time to do a post with some substance.

Meh.

I foresee... FLAK AND SHRAPNEL

Peter Reid's latest creation is, as usual, a goldmine of parts usage. My favourites are the gun sights and head design.

9.04.2008

The cavalry has arrived.

As you may have been able to tell from the somewhat cavalier (pun intended) title, I'm rather proud of my latest creation: the RAMM Hauptpanzer, or Main battle Tank.

It took me several months to build, though mostly because I was too lazy to set up a Bricklink account and buy the cheese-wedges for the feet (and since I bought 60, I went crazy with them on the rest of the MOC as well.) My personal favorite details are the ladder on the left front leg and the engine greeblies (though I don't have any pictures of those because I added the radiators on top of them without a means of temporary removal.)

In the Future, The Hoomins Is Am Are Dead.

The way I see it, anyone who reads this blog is probably a contact of Peter Reid on Flickr anyway, but I figured I'd share it anyway.
I love the use of frogs as shoulders, and the head. Pure awesome.

Wall-E

I saw Wall-E yesterday. Excellent. Pixar cannot make a bad film... As usual, it was lovely animated action with some subtle (and not-so-subtle) undertones. Anyway, members of the lego community also seem to like the movie!

Prior to it's release, both Joe Meno and Angus MacLane built relatively large-scale Wall-Es (Via TBB, obviously), and now Mark Sandlin joins the fun with a smaller Wall-E!
Also, the prolific Jordan (Sir Nadroj) produced a wonderful realistically-scaled M-O today! [reference pic for those who haven't seen the movie]
EDIT: Jordan tells me the M-O is scaled to Joe Meno's Wall-E, making it about 1:3 scale. Smaller than I thought!

LRS 2

The LEGO Robotic Session is a project between the three (and arguably best) Japanese mecha builders: kwi-chang, Moko, and izzo. So far as I can tell, one of them builds a segment and posts it in the gallery so that the next can rebuild it and the next segment. They just finished their second session:

I haven't been able to read Brothers Brick lately so I hope they haven't already posted this! `-`

Oh, and remember Happy Robot Day? Meet Angry Robot.

6.02.2008

Happy Robot Day

I now proclaim the second day of each month to be Happy Robo Day! Today, we celebrate the non-homicidal side to our mechanical chums, and rejoice that they aren't always on a mission to kill all humans. Izzo is and Moko have done their part- what about you?

Jacob
Occasional driving force of the blog, self-proclaimed Lukas fanboy, and aspiring engineer, Jacob spends too much time building LEGO, not enough time practicing piano, and not nearly enough time doing school. He also enjoys long sentences. In the instance of blogging, he believes in quantity over quality, wherever quantity can be maintained.
Mike
One of the cofounders of YSAB, and the founder of YSA, Observing Mike actually being productive is a rare occasion. Mike enjoys making outlandish claims in relation to actually building, pretending he's actually sorting his collection, and making excuses for why he hasn't photographed his MOCs. In his free time he enjoys learning CSS from Spook, photography and poking badgers with spoons.
Dean
Occasional builder, occasional blogger, and full-time procrastinator. That's really the only way to describe Dean. He rarely gets anything done, but is a very active lurker. He's probably seen and liked your MOC, but just forgot he had a blog.
Erik
Erik is still a teenager.
Lukas
Lukas is tall, blond, mildly OCD, and doesn't build nearly enough as he would like to, thanks to school. He has a webpage.
Spook (Tim)
The resident codemonkey and graphics person. If something isn't working correctly, it's probably his fault. Fitting to his name, he doesn't post often, but someone has to do this stuff too, right? Spook does build with laygoes, and has his own blog as well.
