Snickerdoodle anyone?

Welll... the kids and I made these tonight!   I love snickerdoodles because not only are they delicious but the ingredients are always in  your cupboard! Well except cream of tartar.. we were out of that.. but a recipe online is almost identical to Better Homes and Gardens but doesn't have the cream of tartar, so we figured it could be done. (PLEASE NOTE:  I have had requests for the recipe- I will post it later but really all we did is use the recipe out of the Better Homes and Gardens cook book-the checkered one- just without the cream of tartar.) The house smelled of cinnamon for a while- it smelled like Christmas!  Hanna and I tried to keep David out of the kitchen as long as possible, because he's always sticking his fingers in things, etc.  But finally he did figure us out.. and he was pretty good-

although by the look on Hanna's face you see she was telling him to do something.  I can't remember what it was.
Please ignore the mess in the background, and our old ratty cabinets. We rent so we have no control over that! lol

And just when you thought my New Bern pics were finished- I remember I saved a few that mom took too.
Here are Hanna and I-

I haven't forgotten you...

There I was posting almost daily and then I just stopped-sorry about that! No significant progress to post on anything yet- I am making some on "D" of the Stitcher's Alphabet but I will wait til the weekend to post that- hopefully I will have it finished by then! Worked a little on "Little Christmas" on Monday- no stitching Tuesday- for some reason I was so tired that day. I was in bed by 9:30!  Hope to work on my S&S Sampler tonight.
My palace garden/New Bern pics aren't finished yet- here are some more for you-
This is part of a garden adjacent to the cafe we ate at, just off the palace grounds. It was in a house and the food was delicious!

The entrance to the cafe was on the back porch-this is one of the flower arrangements they had on the way.

Can't remember where this was- I think near the cafe' also.
Well, that's all for now- have to get the kids to school! Will post sooner next time!

Winner of the LK flip-it, pretty feet, and garden pics of course!

First, let me apologize again, I am a day late announcing the giveaway winner! Time just gets away from me sometimes..the winner is... Margaret!   Please email me with your address and I'll get it in the mail asap.  Email link is in my profile.

Last night dh treated me to a mani-pedi at a spa here in town- I guess technically it's not a spa- they just do nails and eyebrows, that type of thing, but they call it a spa so I will too. lol  I was so glad cause I have really been thinking my nails look atrocious lately! And it's sandal season!
Guess I need some self-tanner now huh? lol
No stitching last night, after dinner and the spa it was already pretty late- but here are some more pics of our trip to New Bern-

This is the blacksmith shop on the palace grounds- there was a blacksmith inside making things- David was fascinated!

This was a private home and garden next to the palace grounds- they had their back gate open, so you could see their beautiful yard.  It was right next to the blacksmith shop!

This is a cute fire hydrant near one of the visitor parking lots.

Well, that's about it for now- I have to go get ready for zumba class! Stay tuned for more giveaways-I have a pile of stuff here to get rid of!

Just a few snaps from today-

Today my family and I went to Tryon Palace in New Bern, NC.  They were having a special gardening weekend, where they sold plants from the palace gardens (I think that's where they were from)  and had some beautiful floral displays in the gardens.  I took a TON of pictures, so rather than have one huge post, I will add them to posts over a series of days, along with stitching snaps when I have them.. here are a few to start-
The palace itself-when I was out here I kept remembering Mrs Elton's quote from Emma about "extensive grounds." lol

I wish you could smell these wisteria- they were hanging all over the side of the visitor/information ce
nter for the palace.  You could simply stand in front of the wall and smell them- heavenly!
Some white wisteria..
