"No rain, can't get the rainbow"
- 'Rainbow' by Ayu
Looks so dreary outside.
Shall keep a highly positive tone throughout this happy post! :)
What a remarkable amount of rain.
I hadn't thought it was possible for a rain to last this long. (and it's still raining!)
Anyway, since I'm in the comfort of my cosy home, with my cup of hot green tea and Torey Hayden's 'Twilight Children', I'm contented. :)
1. I keep getting caught in the rain.
the worst incident was last week when I was on my way to cognitive psych lecture and on the way home from school.
It was horrendous. I was utterly soaked despite being armed with an umbrella. The girls were all pretty shocked at how drenched I was and I really gotta thank SL and Mabel for helping me out. ;)
Anyway, I rmb this convo with this guy.
(It was pouring REALLY HEAVILY and the guy was running out from SDE and stopped at the traffic light.)
Jas: *glances back and forth between him and the SUPER SLOW traffic light* err... would you like to share umbrella with me?
Guy: OH. HAHAHAHA it's alright! I'm already so drenched!! :D
Jas: haha... alright then. O.O
yes, he was grinning from ear to ear.
Anyhow, it was pretty awkward since the traffic light was taking forever to change and he was just standing next to me getting soaked.
Well, in retrospect, I should've insisted, shouldn't I?
oh well.
anyway, I was super soaked before school, and after school, I got soaked again when I took the bus.
baaah.
at least I didn't catch a cold.
And now, the weather is getting more and more erratic.
At one moment, it's pouring. at another moment, it's sun-drenched (ooh I love this word).
The temperature stays relatively constant though, at approximately 23 degree Celsius (YES...).
To sum it up, this quote from my dad couldn't be more apt.
Dad: This is the 4th time I'm putting the clothes out to dry.
2.
I'm reading non-fiction!
Torey Hayden's 'Twilight Children' was listed under 'Fitness & Health'. (hmm...)
It's captivating and heart-wrenching from the very first page and she's someone I really look up to. :)

Will update here after I finish the book! (will probably take ages...)
3.
I think I'm going to have sore throat real soon, given the amount of crisps (I can't remember the name) and this seaweed snack I've been eating.
Thank goodness most of the CNY goodies aren't opened yet, if not everything would've been finished way before cny. >.< (Mabel's family is already halfway through their 2nd kg of bak kwa!)
Anyway, this is a smart move by my mum, considering the fact that many relatives would be visiting our place this year.
Imagine them coming and being greeted with empty containers. hahaha. very gluttonous family indeed.
4.
I have been talking about going to Royal Copenhagen for agessss and I finally managed to visit it!
(it was a birthday treat for SG and you can say I've got ulterior motive hohoho.)

there's just so much to rave about, from the very friendly service to the great view (we got the window seat! :)) and to the beautiful china and to the (OF COURSE) food.
We tried the 'Her Majesty' tea time special for 2.
Loved it, especially the strawberry-flavoured lukewarm water (the point is, it's lukewarm. I dislike restaurants that serve water that's either 95% ice and 5% water or steaming hot ones),
blueberry cheesecake (even though I'm not a fan of cheesecake. well, that's how charming it is!),

smoked salmon that's not super salty (for once)
It was my first time trying open-face sandwiches.
other than the fact that it really doesn't taste like or resemble a sandwich, I really liked it.
Maybe it's because of the generous amount of smoked salmon. (I'm a fan of salmon!)

and of course, the quiche (for SG to die for)!
The burst of flavour in your mouth is just amazing.
Kind of reminds me of shepherd's pie. (shall let him try it someday :))

and of course, the signature scones. (no pictures of that cos those that I took really do no justice to the actual ones)
the strange thing is, I'm not that impressed with the scones, other than the fact that they're not very sweet and were fresh out of the oven.
ahh... perhaps it's due to my high expectations of them.
But nevertheless, they were good :)
On top of all that, the price is pretty reasonable too!
So I would definitely recommend you guys to go there sometime for high tea. :)
Next time, I'll definitely try the tea and probably some other cakes too! oh, and the chocolate lava cake! yum!
5.
My house gives me a very CNY-ish feel.
while I'm typing away, my dad's hanging up cny decorations.
6.
You know, personally, I feel that the best part of cny is cny eve.
I like the heartwarming feeling of having your loved ones close to you and sharing a steamboat together.
It's usually a day when everyone will be in good spirits and avoid conflicts as much as possible.
BUT, why do I have morning class on cny eve?!
darn.
going out to meet the lovely girls for a pre-cny dinner! Can't wait. :)
