CTD210 Friendly Reminder

Hi all!  Tammy is our hostess this week for the Color Throwdown and she picked this fun color combo for us...

I thought I'd make a school-themed card, as I need to write a note to Kara's teacher this week. Here's what I came up with...

The stamps are Believe in You from There She Goes and papers are Sweetest Thing--Honey by My Mind's Eye.  The layout was Mojo Monday Sketch 258.

Here are links to the rest of the CTD team so you can check out more color inspiration...

Bar   ***   Broni   ***   Joan
Kerri   ***   Lori   ***   Lynn
Tammy   ***   Wanda
and our September Guest Designer, Sherry Cheever!

Have an awesome Wednesday!

For our bus driver

I gave this to Kara's bus driver this morning...bus drivers are pretty awesome, aren't they?  Ours is....she even gives Rusty a dog treat every morning...so of course he LOVES her, too...lol!

The layout is Mojo Monday Sketch #244, all the kraft flags are up on foam tape, all stamps are from There She Goes ("Believe In You"), papers are Summer Fresh by Simple Stories, and I added Stickles to different parts of the bus for some sparkle.  Copics: W1, W3, W5, R22, YR21, YR24.

Have a great Friday!

For a wonderful teacher

Kara's teacher has been absolutely wonderful this year. She's my favorite teacher that Kara has had so far and I think I'm really going to miss her next year.  I made this card for her to tell her how much we appreciate her...

I used my Believe in You set from There She Goes (reeeeeeally love this set....it has everything you could possibly want in a school-themed set).  The layout is Mojo Monday Sketch 243 and the card measures 4.25" square.  The circle and apple (both from Spellbinders) are up on foam tape, papers are Summer Fresh by Simple Stories that I got from i{heart}papers, the kraft panel was embossed with my Swiss Dots embossing folder, and the books were colored with Copics (E41, E43, G24, G40, Y11, Y15, YR23).  The twine is from The Twinery and I colored the row of clear rhinestones with my Y15 Copic marker).

Have a really great day!!.....I cannot even believe it's June 1st already!

Bus Driver Gift

Hi all! I hope all of you on the East coast made it through Irene okay. We made it through just fine. Only one tree fell in our back yard, but it didn't hit anything other than my wash line. That'll be easy enough to fix. We lost power at about 4 a.m. yesterday, had a generator to get us through the day, and by nighttime the power and internet were back on. Yay!!

I made this matchbook post-it note holder for Kara's bus driver. You can find the tutorial on Splitcoast under the Resources section. I followed the measurements for the 3"x3" post-its. Stamps are from There She Goes and I added some sparkly Stickles to different parts of the bus.

Today is Kara's first day of school....so on that note, I'd better go "crack the whip" (haha!) and get her out of bed, fed, dressed, pictures taken, and to the bus stop on time. Have a great day, all!

If you're going to the show, stop by and say hi, okay? I'll be there with Julie Smith (hobbywoman) and Dave Miller from Rubbernecker.

I saw Gina K made a homework station by covering a cereal box and thought it was a really cool idea so I made one for Kara by covering an economy sized Swiffer box. I used this awesome school set from There She Goes...so many stamps in this set that I KNOW I'll get lots of use out of it this year. The white apple and "homework assignment" tag are both up on foam tape.

Have an awesome day!

There She Goes Reunion

Hey all! I have a TSG card to show you today. Jessica Knutsen invited all of us "retired" {giggle} DT members to play along in a reunion post today, and she sent me this adorable Treemendous set to play with. Thanks, Jessica!!

The tree and sentiment (which is actually three separate stamps) was stamped in Versafine Onyx Black. The adhesive-backed rhinestones are from Michael's, I layered some black gingham ribbon over some green satin ribbon, and the bow was tied with my Bow Easy. See those tiny little leaves stamped along the piercing? Those are from the Treemendous mini set as well.

I added some more of them to the inside of the card too....

CASE'ing Wendy, Steph & Bev

Hey all! Have you been to Jessica's blog lately? Did you see that there's a way for you to try and win some free TSG stamp sets? That's right, just CASE one of the retiring TSG team members (that would be me, Bev, Steph and Wendy), link up to THIS POST on Jessica's blog by the end of this month and you'll be entered.

I thought it'd be fun for my last post as a TSG team member to CASE all THREE of my fellow TSG girls. I chose to CASE Bev's Happy Flowers card, Wendy's Sending You My Love card, and Steph's Upsy Daisy Window card. Beautiful cards!

For Bev's card I went with her layout and Flowers of Happiness stamps. I just changed a couple of the ink colors, switched out pearls for her bling, and popped up that punched Regal Rose flower on Dimensionals. More of the flowers were stamped on the inside too, down in the lower right-hand corner:

For Steph's card I kept her layout with the window panes, a punched butterfly, and I picked a polka dot DP pattern. I used my Butterfly Happiness stamps instead of a SU set and I paired it with Parisian Breeze DP. On the inside I stamped more of the stem silhouettes and added another punched butterfly that's also up on Dimensionals. I added some Angel Wings Shimmerz to the stems:

For Wendy's card I went with her same layout and butterfly theme with the black ribbon. I just changed out her Blush Blossom to Pink Pirouette, used a DP pattern instead of the embossing (only because I didn't have that gorgeous script embossing folder), and used stamps from Butterfly Happiness and Nature of Friendship. The butterfly was stamped twice, once on the pink panel and then a second was cut out and popped up on Dimensionals. I added some Angel Wings Shimmerz to the butterfly:

Jessica, thank you SO MUCH for having me on your design team, and keep those AWESOME stamps coming!! {{HUGE HUGS!!}}

TSG Altered Magnetic Frame

Hi everyone! Every Friday, the TSG team members take turns making a project with something that costs one dollar (or less) and the tutorial gets posted on Jessica's blog. Yesterday was my turn! Since I used a picture of my little cutie pie, I wanted to post it here too.

My project is a $1 magnetic frame that I got in the Target $1 bins and it's decorated with my TSG Flowers of Happiness stamps. Here's what the finished frame looks like:

I went with pink and orange colors to match what my daughter was wearing in the picture. I love this sweet picture of her. It was taken last June at a picnic with her mommy-and-me preschool class. I had her dressed in pink for the picnic, and then when we got there they had all the kids put on these orange t-shirts that they had made in class.

Here's what the magnetic frame looked like when I bought it along with the uncropped picture:

I just turned it over and traced it onto some DP (the back side of the DP):

Next, I cut it out and glued it onto the front of the frame with some sticky strip:

That's it, easy peasy and ready to be decorated!

SUPPLY LIST ~
Stamps: TSG Flowers of Happiness
Paper: SU Parisian Breeze DP, White
Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black, Copics
Accessories: Orange Brads, Hemp Twine, Spellbinders Double Ended Tags, Dimensionals, SU Pretty in Pink Taffeta Ribbon, Sticky Strip

Celtic Cross

Yep, I've said it before and I'll say it again...I LOVE this Celtic cross. It's from one of the newest sets from There She Goes.

The cross and blessings sentiment is heat embossed with tinsel gold EP. The punched oval, white panel with the cross, river rock mat behind it, and the bottom white panel with the gold brads are all up on separate layers of Dimensionals. The layout is Jen del Muro's SFYTT from Saturday.

Here's a close-up of that tinsel gold EP...really sparkly!

Here's the inside with the sentiment stamped in River Rock. It shows up really well in real life, but I had a hard time getting a good picture of it. In case it's still too light in the photo for you to read the sentiment, it's "May your pockets be heavy and your heart be light, May good luck pursue you each morning and night." The white panel with the sentiment is also up on Dimensionals.

SUPPLY LIST ~
Stamps: Blessings (There She Goes)
Paper: Choice White CS (Taylored Expressions), River Rock, River Rock Designer Prints DP
Ink: Versamark, River Rock
Accessories: Curved Mega Rectangle Nestabilities, May Arts Gold Metallic String (Pink Hedgehog Paper Crafts), Embroidered Ribbon, Ornare Piercing Template, Gold Brads, SU Lg. Oval Punch, Dimensionals, Ranger Tinsel Gold Embossing Powder

Thanks for stopping by!

After the image was colored, I added some Lilac Shimmerz to the roses and Angel Wings Shimmerz to the edge of the vase. Both the white and purple Nestabilities panels are up on Dimensionals.

Here's the inside of the card:

SUPPLY LIST ~
Stamps:
There She Goes Roses & Chocolate

The curved rectangle Nestabilities panel and both circles are up on Dimensionals. For this month's "bling it out" challenge theme I added some Taylor's Tiny Twinkles under the bird and sentiment.

This awesome layout is Amy Rysavy's sketch from February 20th (AMYRS59). I love this one and I'm sure I'll be using it again!

On the inside of the card, I stamped more of the stem silhouettes as well as a butterfly that's also part of this new Nature of Friendship set. Lots of fun pieces in this one!

Hi everyone! Are you ready to see some sneak peeks from There She Goes? Jessica is releasing three new sets and one mini sentiment set this week! Today we're showing you the new set called Blessings....My VERY favorite! I just love, love, LOVE this Celtic cross and the Irish Blessings quote!!

I stamped the cross in the background in River Rock on Very Vanilla CS, and then stamped the quote over it in Memento Cocoa. That Vanilla circle as well as the Chocolate Chip scallop circle behind it are both up on Dimensionals.

TSG Design Team

Hi everyone! Today Jessica is announcing her newest Design Team members. Check it out on her blog! Lots of serious talent coming on board!

Starting tomorrow and continuing through Friday, we'll be showing you sneak peeks of three new TSG sets plus one mini sentiment set. This will be my last release with There She Goes. Jessica is bringing on some fresh faces and my six months as a DT member will be done at the end of March. Even though I won't be on the DT, I'll still be using her stamps though! They really are great quality stamps!

Now....remember on Sunday you were asked to submit a question to the TSG design team? Well, here are the favorite questions. My answers are below and here are links to some more TSG team members so you can see their answers: Jessica, Jessie, Maki, Joanne, Becky, Christi, Bev, Wendy, Angela, Julie, Jodi, Holly and Stephanie.

1. What do you typically start a project with? What's picked first: stamps, embellishments, DP, colors? It totally depends on what I'm working on. If it's sneak peeks or a sketch challenge, then I pick my stamps first and pull the CS colors/DP to go with the image. If it's a color challenge, then I'll pull a stamp based on what would go with the colors.

2. Do you give away your cards, sell them, send them or hoard them? I mostly send mine to friends and family. Some I hoard for a while though. I haven't gotten into selling them...I'm always afraid that selling them will make it feel like a *job* and I don't want my card making to become a job.

3. If you could design your own stamp or stamp set, what would it be? Something with cute little animals/characters, maybe something beachy...definitely images that could be colored.

4. Where do you get your inspiration? I'm definitely inspired by my oldest daughter (the true artist) and fellow stampers. The SCS galleries are a GREAT source of inspiration! Challenges are a great place to start...especially sketch challenges (in my opinion). Nature is a great source of inspiration too.

5. How do you balance your stamping time with your personal time/work/kids/etc? Typically I stamp in the morning when my youngest is watching cartoons or when she's at preschool, afternoons are usually set aside for running errands (mom's taxi service, grocery store...I feel like I'm always at the grocery store, LOL!), evenings are when I work or *try* to go to the gym. Sometimes I set up my 4-year-old at the craft table with me...she stamps with her kid stamps and I stamp with mine.

6. What is your favorite embellishment? Shimmerz!

7. What is something that not a lot of people know about you? I don't like to talk on the phone, LOL!

8. On average how long does it take to create one of the cards we see each week? My cards take anywhere from 20 minutes to two hours.

9. What is your favorite coloring medium? I switch back and forth between Copics and watercoloring, but watercoloring is still my favorite.

10. What time of day do you prefer to do your creating? Morning

A few of you had questions specifically for me that aren't answered above so I'll include those here too...

Terri: I definitely prefer to pick the colors of my CS/DP for my card and then color the main image. What do you prefer?

Kimberly: Yep, sometimes I sit down to make something and it just does NOT come together. Definitely no fun. In those cases, I just have to walk away and come back later.

Debbie: I've been stamping for almost two years now...time flies! I don't think I have a signature style. If I do, I'd love to hear what it is, LOL!

TSG question...

Hey all! I just got an email from Holly and Jessica...they have an idea for this week's TSG release and we'd love for you to participate. Just leave me a comment on this post answering the following question:

"If you could ask the There She Goes design team ONE question, what would it be?"

Leave a comment sometime today or tomorrow. I'll pick my favorite question on Sunday night and forward it onto Jessica for something she has in store for us later in the week.

Blog Hop with TSG!

Hey all! We're having a BLOG HOP today with the team from There She Goes!.....my very first blog hop! To start at the beginning of the hop, click HERE to go to Jessica's blog. She's first in line and then you can follow the links to everyone's posts today.

We're all working with a different stamp set and all the cards are themed around Famous Quotes. I was assigned the Special Delivery set so I did some Google searching and found this quote by Josh Billings. I made the quote on the computer and printed it out on Taylored Expressions Buttercream CS...I know, after I finished the whole card I realized I should have put Josh Billings' name under the quote..oops. Sorry about that!

The mailbox and postage stamp are both up on Dimensionals. I added some red shimmerz paint to the red heart and flag on the mailbox. The yummy ribbon is from Jami Bova (thanks, Jami!!!).

Here's a picture of the inside of the card. The postage stamp here is also up on Dimensionals.

Soooooo, next in line is Holly McMillen! Head on over to her blog to continue the TSG Blog Hop. She'll then link you to the next TSG team member!
