Psalm 9:1 “I will praise you, O LORD, with all my heart. I will tell of all your wonders, I will be glad and rejoice in you, I will sing praise to your name…O Most High!”
Heavenly Father,
There are 4 promises here that I should make….I will praise you wholeheartedly, will tell of all your wonders, will be glad and rejoice in you, and will sing praise to your name. If I “praise you with all of my heart”…I make you most important…above family, above friends, above hobbies, before work, before schedules, before everything else that distracts me. Sometimes that isn’t easy. I no sooner began writing this and company arrived! You’re testing me? All I can do is try. I know I am to love others with your great love, also. Jesus was often interrupted and bothered with distractions. I need to learn to praise you will all of my heart even amid the busyness going on around me. I will “tell of all your wonders”. Another “all”…this time describing what you are rather than what I need to be. I know all the great things you are and do and I need to speak more freely of your wonders to others. I can’t “tell” anything if I don’t open my mouth. I will “be glad and rejoice in you”. None of this should be a burden or a “duty” or something difficult. If I love you wholeheartedly your praises and wonders should flow freely and joyfully from me to others. If I’m a “sourpuss” Christian something is wrong. Rejoice! This leads to “I will sing praise to your name, O Most High!” My mouth will not only open, but I will sing your praises…joyfully. Singing comes easily to me. My heart sings and is full of music all the time. Singing brings together the emotions, thoughts, feelings, and rhythm that are in me and puts it all into words. I love to sing your praises! O Most High…high above me in all ways! High in wonders, high in my priorities, high in importance, high in emotion. Most High, I love you! Most High, I sing to your name! Amen
